she lilced the appearance of landscape islands in parking lots she would rather see the
concentration along the front. Currently the front parlcing does not meet the 20 foot setbaclc
requirement; eliminating the parlcing and replacing it with the landscaping and brickscape would
have more of an impact. Mr. Bohlmann aslced if the parlcing lot would be restriped. Mr. Draeger
said new concrete curb cuts and asphalt had been installed in the past 30 days and the lot was
restriped at that time. He said he was willing to talce Ms. Wenger's suggestions of installing the
briclcscape and landscaping along the front of the site to the owners. Mr. Lasko said the east
parallel parlcing spaces should be removed. Mr. Draeger said he did not believe the parallel
spaces were painted in as the space was too narrow. Mr. Laslco asked for a new properly scaled
detailed site plan and agreed addressing the front of the site would have the greatest impact.
Mrs. Meredith aslced where the Goodwill donations would be dropped off. Mr. Draeger said
drop offs would be made at the front east corner of the building. Mr. Conway asked if this was
inside or outside the front of the building as outside drop offs were not allowed. Mrs. Meredith
was concerned that having the drop off in the front of the building would become unsightly as
some drop offs are made after hours. She would prefer to see it in the back of the building. Mr.
Draeger said half the building would be a storage area and the donations would be brought itzto
the building through the newly installed overhead door. Mr. Bohlmann asked if a permit was
issued to cut into the building to install the overhead door and close the man door along the east
side of the building. Mr. Conway said he was only aware of permits for interior and electrical
changes. Mr. Draeger said he could not answer for Goodwill as he was present to address the
parking and landscaping for the owners. Mr. Lasko said the owners needed to be present to
address the commission. Mrs. Meredith said she did not like the roof color; it is too light and
washes out the building. The entrances of both businesses should be more defined. She would
like to see revised plans showing the Uuilding elevations, signage and the parking lot layout.
Councilinan Barlcer said he is happy to see Save-A-Lot come into the neighborhood, however he
would also lilce to see a darlcer roof color. He agrees with the front landscape requests and
streetscape suggestions. His main concern is the Goodwill site being maintained and how
donations will be taken in. He appreciates the new wood fence along W. 231st Street. Mr.
Malone aslced if the building color shown was accurate. Ms. Duffy said they omitted their
standard color to match the detail briclc on the building but are concerned their sign would be
washed out by a dark color. Mr. Malone asked for the roof color to have more of a brown tone.
Ms. Duffy said she would submit new color samples.
Mr. Lasko moved, seconcied by Mrs. Meredith, to table the proposal for COMS08-0002:
Save-A-Lot of 23000 Lorain Road, which consists of exterior alterations, which was
unanimously approved 5-0.
COMS08-0012: North Olmsted Mixed Use Center; Srookpark Road (Warcl 4)
Proposal consists of Vacation & Dedication of Easements Plat
Ms. Wenger said she was advised by the Law Director that the Commission's approval of the
plat should be conditioned upon Council accepting any easements associated with the plat which
may involve legislation.
