CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />CULTURAL ACTIVITIES COMMISSION <br />MEETING MINUTES OF SEPTEMBER 2, 2009 <br />ROLL CALL <br />Chair Yustick called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. at the North Olmsted Library. <br />Present: Gerald Yustick, Beverle Martindale, David Wahl, John Kepperley, <br />Barbara Brown <br />Absent: Faye Curry <br />12EVIEW AND CORRECTION OF 1VIIlVUTES <br />Mr. Kepperley moved, seconded by Mr. Wahl, to approve the minutes of July 29, 2009 and <br />August 5, 2009, which were approved, 5-0. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />2009 Juried Arts & Crafts Festival <br />Although all the financial records are not yet in, Mr. Kepperley estimates $1800 earned with <br />$1388.14 in expenses, netting a profit of $411.86. Expenses included $406.63 in postage and <br />$10.13 in copying, most of which was done at City Hall and the Schools, and for which he is <br />grateful. Honorariums have been given to Chelsea Schumann of Arts Enterprise and Daniel <br />O'Brien for The Minimum Requirements totaling $125.00. He expects to pay commissions to <br />North Coast Promotions in the amount of $275.00. The Westlife ad was $230. The expenses for <br />date changes to the banners and posters along with miscellaneous purchases totaled $341.83. <br />Mr. Yustick suggested not sending reminders would be a way to reduce expenses. Mr. <br />Kepperley agreed and suggested he and Mr. Yustick compare mailing lists and look for ways to <br />cut them. The basket raffle earned $56.00 for the Cemetery Improvement Project. A check for <br />that amount has been submitted to the Olmsted Historical Society for the cemetery fund. As <br />previously agreed with the OHS, some of the art show profits will be given to Frostville; Mr. <br />Kepperley will work that out with Mr. Schumann once the records are finalized. Mr. Kepperley <br />will be sending an evaluation form to all participating artists. <br />Next year's show will be held on August 8, 2010. Mr. Kepperley will complete and submit the <br />Ohio Arts Festivals & Competitions Directory Application for 2010, which is due in October. <br />Centennial of Vi11age of North Olmsted - Parade Enta-y <br />Ms. Martindale reported the parade entry went well. Photos of the Cultural Activities/Dover <br />Players entry were published in the Westlife and Sun News. The grand champion winner was <br />the Frostville entry. Kiwanis won first place non-commercial entry and Cultural Activities won <br />third place non-commercial.
