Mrs. Curry said that she arrived at the meeting earlier than
indicated in the minutes. Mr. Kepperley moved, seconded by Ms. Martindale, to approve the
minutes of June 3, 2009 as corrected, which were approved, 6-0.
OLD BUSINESS
2009 Juried Arts & Crafts Festival
Mr. Kepperley submitted new applicants as follows: Angels in Pastels, Karen Donahue Thomas
Pastel Drawings; Byron Leffler, oils/ceramics; Barbara A. Although approved by majority, Mrs. Curry voted against this display,
stating she thought it was a bit too much for this show. This brings the number of entries up to
20 as of July 1. Mr. Kepperley read an email from Lisa Nemeth of North Coast Productions
stating that she could not attend tonight's meeting and that she had two more artist entries to be
juried at a later date. The High School art exhibit will be set up the week of August 3 in the
Frostville Barn using the display panels the Kiwanis purchased. Mr. Kepperley shared the new
banner locations and plans for the art festival, Frostville, Homecoming, and the Auto Mile
banners.
Concerning promotions, Mrs. Curry asked if she should continue to submit the art festival
information to various community news boards and area art community e-mail distribution lists
since Lisa Nemeth of North Coast Promotions is working on advertising. Mr. Kepperley
recommended that all commission members continue to do their part concerning promotions.
Mr. Kepperley explained sewer drainage challenges for the Stearns Coach House restrooms at
Frostville. Although doubtful, he hopes they will be done and open for the festival. Mr. Wah]
will help Mr. Kepperley install storm and sanitary drainage lines on Friday, July 3.
