CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED
CULTURAL ACTIVITIES COMMISSION
MEETING MINUTES OF APRIL 1, 2009
ROLL CALL
Chair Yustick called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. at the North Olmsted Branch Library.
Present: Gerald Yustick, Beverle Martindale, David Wahl, John Kepperley, Faye Curry
Also Present: LCC Studerit Kelsey Farrell, Secretary Tricia Granfors
REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES
Mr. Kepperley moved, seconded by Ms. Martindale, to approve the minutes of March 4, 2009,
which were approved, 4-0. OLD BUSINESS',

2009 Juried Arts & Crafts Festival
Mr. Kepperley has received one application (from Jerry Yustick) and one inquiry. Lisa Nemeth
of North Coast Promotion said that, possibly due to economics, applications for all shows have
been coming in at a slower rate but by the dates of the events, participation has been full. A
reminder postcard will be sent in mid May. The Band and Orchestra Boosters will also sell
popcorn at the event as a fundraiser. The program seeks to meet these goals and raise
funds by planning an annual music festival using students from Bowling Green and local high
schools to form a diverse program of performers who would provide music for free at outdoor
festivals while raising funds through sponsors, donations, product sales, and other means. Mr.
Kepperley felt incorporating the entire package into the art show this year would not be possible.
Discussion will continue at the May meeting on including some facet of the program.
Mr. Kepperley will research the cost of updating the date on the art festival streetscape banners
and report to Planning Director Wenger. He has discussed with Mayor O'Grady the possibility
of placing banners on traffic signal poles and will continue to seek approval to do so.
Centennial of Villa2e of North Olmsted and Citv Schools
Tricia Granfors introduced ideas for Cultural Activities and Dover Players involvement in
commemorating the Village of North Olmsted Centennial at the Homecoming Festival in
August. She suggesfed members of Dover Players write, cast, and produce one or more short
skits based on events in the City's timeline to perform on or near the stage. Another idea is for a
large group of people dressed in various period costumes and props march in the parade. Both
