activities would not only commemorate the centennial, but would also serve as publicity for
Dover Players and the Cultural Activities Commission.
Ms. Martindale said the timing would be difficult for Homecoming because one play will be
coming to an end and preparations for the next play would be underway. She may not have the
time to write the skits and casting may prove difficult. Mr. Yustick suggested asking the High
School drama students to assist with the production. Mr. Kepperley said it is difficult to get
student assistance so close to the start of the school year. Mr. Wahl offered his assistance in
planning such an event and said a puppet show may be easier to produce. Ms. Martindale
concluded that having a group in the parade would be the easiest option for her to plan and
would think about it.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Dover Plavers Update
Ms. Martindale reported the first weekend performances of 3 Gems of Sherlock Holmes were
very well attended. She expects an even larger attendance for this weekend's performances.
Ms. Martindale reminded the commission members that Dover Players offers a small
Scholarship, as .initiated by Helen Duffy, of $100 to students active in the arts. Mr. Kepperley
added that Kiwanis offers six $1,500 scholarships, one of which is renewable.
Local Arts Events
Mr. Yustick's art work is being featured in the Metroparks Nature Center through April 15.
Mr. Wahl attended the performance of Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass at the Lorain County
Community College Stockard Center on March 28. The performance was fabulous.
COMMUNICATIONS
Historic Homes of North Olmsted, Speaker Series
Tricia Granfors explained the speaker series will be a ongoing effort by the Landmarks
Commission for the continuing education of the commission members and for the public. Public
Outreach Coordinator Deneen Kassouf of the County Recorder's Office will share the results of
her research on several historic homes in North Olmsted and the research methods and
procedures open to tlie public. As our historic homes are part of the City's culture, members of
the Cultural Activities Commission are encouraged to attend. Later this year a presentation on
cemetery restoration will be offered.
(Note: Ms. Curry arrived.)
