included in the district; it may be better to work toward registry of the entire district including
the Middle School. Ms. Wenger said research on the steps and requirements is needed. Another
idea is to identify and prioritize properties that represent "firsts" locally or regionally. Several
decades from now those properties would be considered historic. Identifying these properties,
what we have today that would be tomorrow's history, could be another goal for 2010.
Ms. Rerko moved, seconded by Mr. Orlowski, to support seeking 2010 Certified Local
Government grant funds for ADA and other improvements at Old Town Hall, which was
unanimously approved.
Caster House
Mr. Schumann reported the Olmsted Falls Historical Society does not have its own location. An
Olmsted Historical Society member suggested OFHS may be willing to help finance moving the
Caster House if they could then occupy it at Frostville. The possibility is in the discussion phase
at this time. An estimated $30,000 is needed to move house.
Speaker Series speaker - hosted bv First Universalist Church (March)
Ms. Wenger said as part of their anniversary year the church invited the Landmarks Commission
to hold a regular meeting in their facility. If a significant request was placed on the agenda it
would be difficult to manage the meeting without recording capability and other customary
provisions. However, the church would be a good location to host a speaker series event. A date
in March to be determined has been reserved for a speaker invited by the Landmarks
Commission. The church already has a speaker scheduled on the subject of the Underground
Railroad in January and does not need the City to co-host the event. Mr. Thomas agreed to act as
a backup if another speaker is not found. Mr. Schock reiterated that Steve McQuillen is not
interested in participating in the speaker series. Mr. Thomas spoke to a retired NASA engineer
who has studied local interurban railroads. He will provide the contact information so that an
invitation to speak may be extended.
North Olmsted Citv Schools Annex Redevelopment
Ms. Wenger reported that in light of newly elected school board members and the resulting
transition, Mr. Matson does not feel comfortable moving forward with the plans until the new
members are in place. At that time the subcommittee can be formed as previously discussed.
Law Director Dubelko has offered the legal opinion that Mr. Matson has the authority to make
application on behalf of the schools.
COMMUNICATIONS
Records Commission Memo: Rules of Procedure of the Records Commission
Ms. Wenger said the Records Commission Rules of Procedure incorporates the Landmarks
Commission's request to determine if documents are of historic value and worthy of
preservation. Landmarks would have the right to review documents before destruction. If
