Although she is no longer a resident of North Olmsted, she lived in <br />the house 70 years ago when it was part of 30 acres. She remembers the barn and the corn field <br />where the library building stands and the grape vines in the area of the football field. She and <br />her brothers have many memories of the home and would hate to see it destroyed. She and her <br />brothers would be pleased if the house could be moved to Frostville. <br />Mr. O'Malley recommended the Board of Education be asked to concur with the motion to table. <br />Mr. Schumann asked Mr. Matson if he would be agreeable to tabling the COA request pending <br />discussions between the BOE and the Olmsted Historical Society. Mr. Matson agreed; he will <br />advise the board members. According to public meeting requirements Mr. O'Malley <br />recommended only a representative of Landmarks meet with the BOE to avoid a quorum of the <br />commission. Director Wenger recommends that the motion to table would mention the effort to <br />work together towards relocation and if demolition were to occur a detailed development plan <br />should be submitted. Mr. Matson said if the building is demolished <br />the board intends to have the metal walkway removed and restore the Middle School fagade. <br />The master plan calls for the demolition of the annex building, the addition of parking, the <br />elimination of one of the driveways from Butternut Ridge, the removal of existing fencing and <br />overgrowth, the installation of new privacy fencing to benefit their neighbors, the installation of <br />fencing to protect the recreation facilities, and the installation of new landscaping, all to create a <br />campus and park-like environment. The demolition of the Annex will give the board flexibility <br />for redevelopment, such as construction of a new high school or middle school. Additional <br />parking will also reduce traffic congestion. Mr. Schumann is pleased the board intends to restore <br />the Middle School fagade. Built in the 1930's depression era, it has historic significance. <br />The Annex was built in 1910 and an addition was constructed in 1949. Since then a number of <br />modifications have been made. Originally the building was heated by a cold fire boiler, which <br />was removed around 1957. The system was then spliced into the Middle School hot water heat
