schoolhouse. The schools may then keep the copied pictures and yarn pictures for a traveling
exhibit around City schools.
Ms. Wenger said the plans for the Village of North Olmsted centennial observance are
developing. The Cultural Activities Commission has committed to being part of the parade with
an antique vehicle, people in costume, and some sort of banner. For the Homecoming big tent
event a birthday party-themed celebration is being planned and may include information and/or
speakers on the history of the community. Mr. Thomas shared that Shannon, a SITES student
working with his wife, transcribed a speech by 1895 valedictorian, Allie Huntington, whose dad
built homes in the area. Although it was difficult to make out the faded writing, Shannon
enjoyed the project, learning about what a student of that era was thinking as she graduated high
school. It is possible a flyer could be made with the transcript and be made publicly available.
Second 2009 Landmarks Commission Sneaker Event
Ms. Wenger is still hoping to schedule a speaker on cemetery restoration but is open to other
ideas in the meantime.
Certified Local Government Training
The required training for new CLG communities is scheduled for Thursday, June 11 from 5:30 to
9:30 p.m. Pizza will be provided for the group. It will be interesting to hear from Mr. Glenn
Harper on the Ohio Historical Society funding changes. Ms. Wenger recommends identifying
appropriate funding and grants for which the Landmarks Commission can apply in the next cycle
so that a budget request for any city-match requirements can be submitted for 2010.
ADJOURNMENT
Mr. Dubowski moved, seconded by Mr. Lasko, to adjourn the meeting at 7:50 p.m., which was
unanimously approved.
?
Pau chumann, Chair
?
,
ricia A. Granfors, Secretary

Date
