comments and feedback were heard and are being taken into consideration as plans are
developed. The City is also reaching out to the RTA and other major stakeholders in the area.
Mr. Schock requested clarification on plans for bike trails or lanes along Butternut Ridge Road.
Mr. Rerko said a bicycle lane on at least one side of the road, if not both, is being considered.
Ms. Wenger added that the size of the right-of-way must be evaluated because acquiring
additional property is not realistic. How much right-of-way is available and how to work within
it must be determined. Through research on Butternut Ridge Cemetery it was learned,
anecdotally, that the road alignment was changed sometime after the Civil War due to large tree
on Butternut Ridge Road. Mr. Rerko said the center of road is not necessarily the center of the
right-of-way.
Centennial of the Village of North Olmsted and City Schools
Mr. Schumann spoke with Vera Brewer of the North Olmsted School System concerning the
schools' centennial celebration. He will be assisting them in locating photos for use in their
anniversary event. He is disappointed that Community Council does not intend to incorporate
the centennial into the homecoming or parade theme. Ms. Wenger indicated a birthday party
with cake and ice cream will be held to commemorate the founding of the Village on the City's
night in the big tent. The event may incorporate other family or children's games as well.
Streetscape banners with a reusable design are being considered for display across Lorain Road.
Community Council may cover the cost of the banners. The Cultural Activities Commission
may organize a group to march in the parade dressed in historic costumes. Mr. Schumann
suggested all the ideas be retained for the 200t' anniversary of the City's settlement in 2015.
Landmarks Commission Website
Ms. Wenger requests the Landmarks Commission consider other relevant information or pictures
to add to the Landmarks Commission page.
Unitarian Universalist Church - Marker Flacement
To assist the Unitarian Universalist Church in obtaining a grant for a historic marker, along with
a group working on behalf of Erie Cemetery for the same, Mr. Thomas sent copies of documents
he prepared when requesting the Peake marker. Mr. Thomas also spoke with Ms. Wenger
concerning marker placement for the church, whether it would be in the right-of-way or on
church property. Although the marker will need to be placed on church property, the Service
Director has indicated willingness to assist with the installation.
Arts Enterprise
Mr. Schumann reported the Olmsted Historical Society has voted to allow Arts Enterprise, a
Bowling Green State University non-profit arts advocacy group, host an all day music festival at
Frostville in July.
