Drfvewav Alterations
Mr. Schumann received a letter from Building Commissioner Conway concerning a driveway
alteration on Butternut Ridge Road, which he approved. Specific procedures for driveways have
not been discussed by the Landmarks Commission. He wondered if it was necessary to delay all
driveway projects in the historic district for Landmarks review or if under some circumstances
the Building Department could issue permits without the review. Mr. Rerko recommends
continuing the procedure of having all driveway permit requests be reviewed by the Landmark
Commission to be sure it is not a drastic change that would adversely affect traffic flow or
adjacent neighbors. Ms. Wenger feels the minor change process would work well for situations
where the change was not impactful to the property, and more significant changes could be
referred to the entire Commission; Mr. Lasko agreed.
OLD BUSINESS
Certified Local Government Annlication
Ms. Wenger reported the Ohio Historical Society said our Certified Local Government
application met all state and federal guidelines. Council approved the final legislation and
Mayor O'Grady signed the agreement with the Ohio Historical Society to continue the
application process. The City's application is being forwarded to the National Parks Service for
its final review.
Cemetery I'roiect
Ms. Wenger reported that much data gathering is being done. The various sources of
information within the City are being complied into one database. Having read about the project,
individuals have submitted family burial and veteran information. The Planning Department met
with Jeremy Feador, a Wright State University graduate student and a former North Olmsted
S.I.T.E.S. student who has passion for and experience in cemetery restoration. Mr. Feador has
done cemetery restoration work in Berea. He was helpful in recommending how to confirm facts
and where to look for additional records and information. The data gathering component of this
project is a big job. If possible, a slunmer intern may travel to various sources to perform
additional research. The facts and stories that are coming to light are very interesting. The work
of data compiling will continue and the Cemetery Committee will meet again on May 11 at 6:00
p.m. before the Landmarks Commission meeting. 1VIr. Schumann invited the audience to attend
the Cemetery Committee meeting.
Ms. Davis indicated that Donna Draudt pledged to donate $500 toward the Cemetery Restoration
Project. Phil Tomko will follow up with Ms. Draudt.
Great Northern Multi Modal Transportation Plan
Mr. Rerko reported traffic studies are in progress. A NOACA representative indicated updated
traffic counts would be important to the project and future funding. Ms. Wenger said the public
meeting on March 19 was heavily attended by Butternut Ridge residents. All the residents'
