CITY OF NORTH OI.MSTED <br />CULTURAL ACTIVITIES COMMISSION <br />MEETING MINUTES OF OCTOBER 6, 2010 <br />ROLL CALL <br />Chair Yusticlc called the ineeting to order at 7:00 p.m. at the North Olmsted Branch Library. <br />Present: Barbara Brown, John Kepperley, Beverle Martindale, Nasreen Starner, David <br />Wahl, Gerald Yustick <br />Absent: Miguel Cora <br />Also present: Planning and Development Director Kim Wenger, Olmsted Historical Society <br />President Paul Schumann <br />REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES <br />Mr. Kepperley moved, seconded by Mr. Wahl, to approve the September 1, 2010 minutes <br />as corrected, which were approved 6-0. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />Easter E22 Hunt <br />It was reported that the Recreation Center staff would be taking the reigns for planning and <br />organization of the event. The Cultural Activities Commission could assist with PR. Mrs. <br />Starner inquired if the bunny suit could be borrowed from Kiwanis for the event. <br />Art Gallery <br />Ms. Wenger reported that the new artist's worlc was hung that weelc. Mr. Kepperley suggested <br />that for each new artist there be a short article in the WestLife on the artist and the application <br />process to encourage more submissions. He noted there would be a senior art display at the <br />Community Cabin on October 7 from 10am to 2pm. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Holiday Lighting Contest <br />Ms. Wenger said the flyer was redesigned to rename the event and reduce the amount of text. <br />Commissioners approved the flyer. Publicity should begin around the first of November. More <br />publicity is needed to encourage greater participation. Suggestions for publicity include the <br />Community Council email tree, Holidays at Frostville, churches, schools, and the Frostville <br />pancalce brealcfasts. Ms. Wenger said her SITES student could assist with flyer copying and <br />distribution. She asked whether requiring photos hampered the number of submissions in 2009. <br />Mr. Wahl said photos were needed as it was difficult to arrange to see all of the houses in 2008. <br />The group discussed the possibility of online submission and digital photos.
