CYTY OF NORTgI OLMSTED <br />CULTURAL ACTIVITIES COMMISSION <br />MEETING MINUTES OF MAY 5, 2010 <br />ROLL CALL <br />Chair Yustick called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. at the North Olmsted Library. <br />Present: Gerald Yustick, Nasreen Starner, David Wahl, Miguel Cora <br />Absent: Beverle Martindale, Barbara Brown, John Kepperley <br />Also Present: Planning Director Kim Wenger, SITES student Alec Schumann <br />REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES <br />Mr. Wahl moved, seconded by Ms. Starner, to approve the minutes of Apri17, 2010, which <br />were approved 4-0. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />Juried Arts & Crafts Festival <br />Mr. Yustick reported Mr. Kepperley received one additional application since his last report. <br />Ms. Lisa Nemeth of North Coast Productions will attend the June Cultural Activities <br />Commission meeting. Mr. Yustick, Mr. Kepperley, Ms. Brown, and Ms. Martindale will judge <br />the high school art work on May 6 at 7:00 p.m. at the high school. Ms. Wenger requested the <br />commissioners promote the City Hall Art Gallery to the art teachers present. <br />Parkfest, June 13 & 27, 2010 <br />Mr. Schumann reported the first Chick-fil-A Spirit Night on April 14 went well; the amount <br />raised is not yet known. The second Chick-fil-A Spirit Night has been rescheduled for <br />Wednesday, May 26 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Mr. Yustick tentatively scheduled to volunteer. Mr. <br />Schumann presented a Spirit Night event flyer, which he will seek to post in various locations <br />around the City and in the schools. Mr. Schumann also presented the updated ParkFest logo, <br />which was revised according to recommendations by the Cultural Activities members. Ms. <br />Wenger said Clerk of Commissions e-mailed the flyer to many City businesses. Candlewood <br />Suites offered to donate a certificate for a free night's stay as a raffle prize, but she is unsure how <br />to work the prize into the event. She is open to ideas. <br />The North Olmsted Band Boosters is interested in providing concessions for one of the dates; the <br />North Olmsted Kiwanis is also interested. Coke products and pre-packaged food is permitted. <br />Mr. Schumann will be arranging for two auxiliary police officers for each concert. <br />Four of the approved bands have been confirmed; one band declined participation. An additional <br />band has submitted an audition recording for approval. The lead member of the classic rock <br />band, Dangus Kincaid, is willing to perform a set with his band at one concert and a solo, <br />acoustic set on the other date.
