<br />'CITY OF NOIZ'I'H OLMSTED <br />CULTiJRAL ACTIVITIES COMIVIISSION <br />MEETING MINUTES OF MARCH 3, 2010 <br />ROLL CALL <br />Chair Yustick called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. at the North Olmsted Library. <br />Present: Gerald Yustick, Beverle Martindale, Barbara Brown, John Kepperley, Nasreen <br />Starner <br />Absent: David Wahl <br />Also Present: Planning Director Kim Wenger, SITES student Alec Schumann, Miguel Cora <br />ELECT CHAIR AND VICE CHAIR <br />Mre Kepperley moved, seconded by Ms. Brown, to appoint Gerald Yustick as the Chair of <br />the Cultural Activities Commission for 2010, which was approved 5-0. <br />Mr. Kepperley moved, seconded by Ms. Brown, to appoint Beverle 1Vlartindale as the Vice <br />Chair of the Cultural Activities Commission for 2010, which was approved 5-0. <br />REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MIle1UTES <br />Mr. Kepperley moved, seconded by Ms. Brown, to approve the minutes of February 3, 2010, <br />which were approved 5-0. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />Juried Arts & Crafts Festival <br />Mr. Kepperley reported that he had four artist entries for the Commission to approve. After <br />reviewing the photos submitted, the Commission members approved all four entries. The <br />Festival may have 50 to 75 artists at maximum. In 2008, there were 25 exhibitors and in 2009 <br />there were 35 exhibitors. Mr. Kepperley will also work on the art show banners. He hopes they <br />can be hung by the City earlier to help promote the event. <br />Concert in the Park <br />Mr. Schumann reported that much work has been done regarding a possible Concert in the Park <br />series since the last Commission meeting. Proposed dates are Sunday, June 13 and Sunday, June <br />27. June 13 is also All Scouts Weekend in the park; however, they should be cleared out by the <br />time of the concert. The concerts would start at 3:00 p.m. and end around 6:00 p.m. He has <br />talked to Guitar Center about sponsoring the event by loaning amps, providing advertising, and <br />possibly making financial donations for signs and security. He will be putting his request in <br />writing and will then determine if there is a need to seek additional sponsors. He will also talk to <br />the N.O. Band and Orchestra Boosters about selling concessions as a fundraiser. He has <br />identified a number of local bands that axe interested in performing.
