A North Olmsted resident of five years, Ms. Starner
has two children and works as an occupational therapist at Fairview General Hospital. She has
volunteered with Big Brothers/Big Sisters, PTA, and Goodwill Rehabilitation Industries. The
current commission members and guests also introduced themselves.
Mayor Kennedy administered the Oath of Office to David Wahl and Nasreen Starner.
Comaaiunitv Council
Mr. Wahl and Mr. Kepperley met with Community Council to recommend bringing back the
North Olmsted Royalty Ambassador Program to the Homecoming Festival. Community Council
agreed to form an exploratory committee on which Mr. Wahl and Mr. Kepperley will participate.
Mr. Kepperley explained that in past years a competition based on academic achievements,
community involvement and personality was held, the winner of which would receive a
scholarship and act as an ambassador for the City during the year. It serves as a way to honor a
student for their achievements in the same way the Citizen of the Year is honored.
Concert in the Park
Mr. Cora asked about the status of the concert in the park idea. Ms. Wenger said per Recreation
Commissioner Disalvo, Sundays in North Olmsted Park were usually open and he would support
such an event. Mr. Schumann said as a musician he is in favor of the idea and could get other
student musicians involved from a wide variety of musical genres. He feels sponsorships are
also possible. The organizations that sponsored Chelsea Schumann's 2009 music festival at
Frostville may be willing to sponsor a similar event. Guitar Center is another possible source.
