Working with various community groups, in 2007 the Commission began a Living History <br />Project in partnership with the SITES program. In 2008 the AARP awarded a grant of $10,000 <br />to the SITES teachers to continue this program in which older community members are <br />interviewed and videotaped to preserve their stories and for the posterity of our community. <br />GOALS FOR 2011 <br />The Commission has numerous goals for 2011, which include the following: <br />• Prepare detailed reports for the potential landmark designation of the two nominated <br />properties. Continue to identify potential landmarks and eligible properties for historic <br />recognition plaques. <br />• Apply for and obtain grant funding from the Certified Local Government program. <br />• Explore the process for designating the Butternut Ridge Historic District on the National <br />Register of Historic Places. <br />• Carry out a district-wide mailing of the newly created Butternut Ridge Historic District <br />Design Guidelines. <br />• Initiate a comprehensive review of the current historic inventory and begin online reporting <br />of the community s historic resources through the Ohio Historical Society. <br />• Schedule a speaker series event on a local historically relevant topic. <br />• Continue work on the North Olmsted Cemetery Improvement Project. <br />• Partner with the school district to identify preservation opportunities for the Caster house. <br />• Continue with all other responsibilities of the Landmarks Commission. j:4 <br />4
