commission and rationale of the other recommendations. Mr. Schumann thought a closing
statement could be an invitation to attend a meeting or contact the office for further assistance.
The commission would like the law department to review the document for substance. The
document does not address pavers or asbestos siding. Mr. Rerko suggested adding the web
address (EHW) Environmental Health Watch which is a site that discusses such issues in homes
and how they can be found and addressed. Ms. Wenger will format the doctunent and have the
law department review it as well to ensure it does not conflict with zoning laws.
CLG update
Ms. Wenger said the City is required to submit an annual CLG monitoring report, which has
been completed for 2010. There is a new contact person at the Ohio Historical Society for the
CLG program who may be helpful in future matters, such as grants.
NEW BUSINESS
2010 Annual Reuort
Mr. Schumann said the commission would need to update the 2009 annual report to create a
2010 report and asked all members to review last year's report and note any possible changes
which should be incorporated into the update. He also recommended that the commission
review the Historic Preservation Plan. The last meeting(s) of the year will include finalizing the
2010 Annual Report and goal setting for 2011.
Miscellaneous
Ms Wenger said the Oberlin Heritage Center flyer advertises a workshop called How to be a
Good Ancestor which will take place November 13, 2010. Ms.
Wenger said the building department is responsible for enforcement of the City's sign ordinance.
The Cornmission discussed the status of the vacant Biddulph house and its potential sale for
redevelopment. The home is historically plaqued and should be preserved. Mr. Schumann felt
the site could be developed as the lot is wide and could accommodate a street and still save the
home.
