Ms. Wenger said the ordinance would amend the Zoning Code to allow for and regulate
entertainment device arcades (commonly sweepstalces or internet cafes). The companion
legislation is Ord. 2010-111, which is not subject to review by the Commission, but was
provided for informational purposes. The Zoning Code amendment would malce such facilities a
conditional use in the General Retail Business District suUject to requirements for spacing and
separation, minimum floor area, maximum number of machines, and parlcing. The use would
also be subject to the criteria listed in Chapter 1118. The amendment further creates definitions
for these facilities. After discussions with the Director of Law, there are lilcely going to be
amendinents to the definitions, which appear both in the zoning code and building code
proposals, to better define the term in relation to other types of arcade games.
Mr. Malone noted a business in North Olmsted which sales arcade game equipment and aslced if
that type of business would be adversely affect by the new legislation. Ms. Wenger said the
definitions were being further researched to malce sure they are not too broad.
Mr. Laslco moved, seconded by 1VIr. Malone, to table Ordinance no. 2010-112 until
revisions or amendments are received which was approved 5-0.
Mr. Lasko moved, seconded by Mr. Malone, to excuse the absence of Mrs. Meredith and
Mr. Cotner which was approved 5-0.
EIDJOURNMENT
With no fui-ther business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:50 p.m.
9
?ao?o
161, J.
