load, structural computations, dimensions, screening and details of sled. Mr. O'Malley said in
accordance to Chapter 1151.04(C)(2) the additional antenna is a conditional accessory use and
noted that there are federal laws which govern such antennas as well.
Mr. Sindyla said that the plans which were first submitted represent site conditions once worlc is
complete and if approved he will submit full detailed construction plans to the building
departinent which will meet all the requests. The site is a standard site for the installation of the
antennas. The antenna array along the western corner of the rooftop matches the existing array
which was approved Uy the city so they matched what was already approved. Although there
was no requirement to remove any antennas from the rooftop they have worked out an agreement
with the landlord to remove 8 antennas from the penthouse which are non-fiinctioning and or in
disrepair. Screening was not provided as the existing Verizon layout was not and they do not
feel it will have a visual impact at ground level.
Mr. Rerlco said neither a sight line study nor detailed installation plans were submitted and the
roof top is polluted with antennas so the fact that 8 antennas will be removed helps him loolc
more favorably on the project. He aslced if there would be microwaves with the installation. Mr.
Sindyla said there were inicrowaves on each sector of their antennas. Mr. Rerlco said
microwaves heat up anything within its sight line which everyone should be aware of.
Repainnen who are in front of the antennas for long periods of tiine are affected by the
microwaves although to what extent is not lcnown, therefore there should be warning signs
posted on the rooftop. Mr. Sindyla suggested that the leasing agent is very aware of the antennas
einissions but they will post signs if required. Mr. Rerlco said at minimum there should be a
warning sign on the access door to the roof so anyone accessing the rooftop is made aware of the
rislcs. Screening material would just malce the site appear to be more cluttered. The proposed
sled is added and concrete bloclc is placed on it for the antenna and the blocks will not be seen.
Mr. Sindyla said they would only be installing one sled and antenna on the roof. There will be
two antennas and two dishes on the penthouse and the one sled with the antenna along the west
coilier. Mr. Laslco said the removal of the 8 antennas mitigates the concerns brought up however
a wai7ling sign should be on the door for the salce of safety. Mr. Cotner aslced the height above
the roof of the antennas and Mr. Sindyla said the dishes on the roof top are 17 feet above the
roo£ A brief discussion ensued pertaining to the number of antennas being removed and
possible safety issues with the sled and it was noted that there are safety wires which must be
used if you are on the roof or penthouse.
Mr. Lasko moved, seconded by Mre Malone, to approve the proposal for CMS10-13:
Clearwire of 25151 Brookpark laoad to collocate on an existing building conditioned upon
detailed plans being submitted which meets all the Building Commissioner's requirements
prioi• to building permits being issued and a warning sign being installed on the access
points to the i•oofs addressing all microwave fa-equency hazards which was approved 4-0.
CMS10-14: Welcome House; 27200 Lorain Road:
Proposal consists of a conditional use peimit. At the request of the applicant the proposal was
tabled to the following meeting.
2
