asked if there were any restrictions related to residential aesthetics and Mr. O'Malley said there
was not but that if color was going to be addressed it could be addressed at this point of the
review. Mrs. Meredith said she would not be in favor of stipulating what color homeowners
would have to use. Mr. O'Malley said he believed that color is something the city could address
later if the need arises. Mr. Rerko said if color is restrictive the building official would have to
enforce the code and Mr. Mitchell said his department would regulate the code but it would be a
challenge. Mr. Rerlco said that for the most part they have to be a dark color so they can absorb
the sunlight. Mr. Cotner asked if the wind turbine colors are regulated and Ms. Wenger said they
were. Commissioners didn't think color needed to be addressed at this time.
Mr. Lasko moved, seconded by Mr. Rerko, to recommend Council adopt Ordinance 2010-
10 creating a nerv Chapter 1155 (Solar Energy Systems) in the North Olmsted Zoning Code
with recommendations for amendments which was approved 7-0.
Ms. Wenger said she and Mr. DiFranco with input from Mr. Malone applied for a surface water
improvement fund grant to install permeable pavers and a bio retention area in the city hall
parking lot. If the grant is received it will be not only a visual and functional improvement but
also an example for the development community. Mr. Rerlco said it is a good idea as the County
will be charging fees for storm water runoff, so such a system would be appropriate.
ADJOURNMENT
With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
I
D nna Rote, Clerk o Commissions
Approved
