ROLL CALL: Chairmau Zergott called the meeting to order at 5:40 P.M. <br />Present: B. Zergott; M. Yager a.nd T. Liggett. <br />Also Present: Assistant Building Commissioner Ryinarczyk and Clerk of Commissions Comish. <br />H. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MIlNUTES: <br />Mr. Zergott stated that the minutes will be accepted for their content and the consolidation, but <br />they should be rewritten for clarificarion purposes and Mr. Yager volunteered to provide the <br />clerks with the suggested changes so that the clerk of commissions can have an idea on what the <br />board would like their minutes to portray. Mr. Yager explained the main reason for the request <br />is the meeting minutes from architectural review boazd are forwazded to the other boards, and <br />because the other boards rely on the recommendations of this board the minutes must be written <br />in a manner so that they are easily understood. B. Zergott moved to table the review and <br />correction of the April 22, 1998 minutes, seconded by M. Yager and unanimously approved. <br />Motion carried. <br />III. SIGNS: No items. <br />N. OLD BUSINESS: <br />1) Halleen Kia <br />27726 Lorain Road <br />Request approval of the new paint color. <br />Mr. Kou1a provided colored elevations of the existing building which included green awnings and <br />a yellow stripe. He advised he would like to paint the green area red and the yellow azea white. <br />The members expressed some concems about repainting the same materials as the current <br />building is already pealing. Mr. Koula stated Sherwin Williams advised him there is no problem <br />with painting the vinyL Mr. Yager noted Sherwin Willia.ms is in the painting business and <br />regardless of the circumstances would recommend that the surface be repainted 'mstead of <br />upgrading the quality of the materiaLs. It was noted the green was last painted somewhere <br />around 1992. W. Zergott questioned what process will be utilized to prevent the building from <br />peeling again after it is repainted. Mr. Koula noted a building of this nature with the amount of <br />direct sunlight, is bound to peal over time. Mr. Yager agreed Sherwin Williams has good paint <br />products, but if the application is not done properly it will peeL He questioned if there is a roof <br />leak or coping problems that could be the cause of this peeling problem Mr. Koula advised he <br />was not aware of any problems, but noted this is an old building. Mr. Yager stated he did not <br />review the site before the meeting, as this was not an item on the agenda. Mr. Zergott estimated <br />this build.ing has been peeling for at least a year and recommended that 1VIr. Koula look into <br />upgrading the quality of the materials rather than just painting the building. Mr. Kou1a advised a <br />professional painter came in and painted the building several years ago yet it still peeled. <br />Assistant Building Commissioner Rymarczyk advised the purpose of this meeting is to review the <br />color. Mr. Yager argued it is a two part issue as the peeling of this paint is a reflection on the <br />community. - Mr. Kou1a advised he was never cited because his building was peeling, and he <br />would like to paint lus building. Mr. Yager cautioned the owner is taking a risk as there are
