;
Cinnamon Woods South. In speaking with the city forester earlier today, Mr. Elliott noted the
trees are to remain along all property lines. There have been mounds and sound buffers designed
primarily on Cook Road which will include bushes and evergreens. Mr. Elliott confinned some
of the trees south of the property line will have to be sacrificed to accommodate the drainage for
Cinnamon Woods South. He further explained a meeting will be set up with the residents of
Peppermill and the city forester to discuss which trees can be removed. Mr. Zergott noted the
woods behind Bayberry have standing water all the time. Mr. Elliott advised that is up to the
board of managers. He further noted, although there are some drains back there, the existing
trees are so close to the buildings that it prevents any sunlight from getting through to evaporate
the water. Mr. Zergott requested an explanation on the landscaping. Mr. Elliott explained a
variety of trees will be used including: Sugar Maple; Red Maple; and Norway Maple. He
elaborated the reason for choosing this variety is in speaking with the landscape designer, it was
noted some diseases that effect certain trees will not effect others. Mr. Zergott stated this is a
good landscape design however, this is a typical four inch front which is nearly impossible to do
as things that live on a southern exposure are not going to survive on a northern which may not
work on an eastem exposure etc. Mr. Elliott noted they have learned this from past experience
and will arrange the plantings accordingly. As Iong as the developer pays close attention to
ex posures, this landscape design is acceptable. The clerk noted that the city forester was going
to meet with the Peppermill residents and the developer regard'mg preserving as many trees as
possi'ble. Mr. Elliott confirmed a meeting has been arranged for Thursday or Friday of next week
for the purpose of this review. The clerYc further explained the street widths vvere refened to the
safety department for review, and the safety department did not have a problem with the
presentation.
B. Zergott moved to accept the landscape design for Cinnamon Woods South, 28867 Lorain
Road, with the recommendation that: 1) the developer play close attention to the plant materials
as certain plants do better on a northern exposure as opposed to a southem exposure and visa
.3 . versa; and 2) that the developer meet with the city forester to. stake and make sure assurances
are made to save the existing foliage. The motion was seconded by T. Liggett and unanimously
approved.
2) Develo?ers Diversified Realty Corp. (Home Depot): Great Northern Shopping Ctr.
Proposal consists of receiving the approval of the new store front.
Heard by planning commission May 12, 1998 and refened toarchitectural review board for
review of plan and to the city traffic engineer to determine if the turning radius in the back is
adequate for the trucks. • .
Mr. Barrow, developer made the presentation and 'mtroduced the following members of the
development team: Mr. Parisi, tenant architect; Mr. Scherry, developers architect; and Mr.
Jaczinski, project manager: Also present were interested residents: Mr. Skoulis and Ms. Diver.
Mr. Parisi presented colored elevation of a prototypical Home Depot store front. Mr. Liggett
questioned if this prototypical presentation is for a Home Depot within a shopping center. A
materials sample boaxd was presented which included: lawson blend brick in Crevice Tan,
Walnut Akron, and Sandpiper. An E.F.I.S. system will be utilized for the facia. Mr. Barrow
noted the masonry materials will match the rest of the shopping center so that the consistency is .
maintained.
