r,a` •. y
, . , •r?,r.?.? ??
V. NEW BUSINESS:
A) Schirmer Construction, 31350 Industrial Parkway.
Proposal to construct office/warehouse which will include covered storage, a recessed truck dock,
a shed, and lot renovations. Refenal to board of zoning appeals required for variances. Heard by
Planning commission March 24, 1998.
Tim Youngmen, Fred Schirmer, and Tony Cerny, who presented the proposal to build an office
warehouse. This warehouse will include general offices, and store equipment. The office area
will be an all masonry structure with a combination of split face block which will be dark in color,
and a varnished block that has a smooth ground face and a more polished finish. The split face
block will continue around the building. Mr. Yager asked if the color being inset will be flush
with the split face. Mr. Cerny stated yes but only slightly. The steel siding is a light bronze color,
(Morton premium 70 paint) which will bring color into the building which is interstate blue. The
aluminum framing for the window's will match the interstate blue color. The storage shed in the
north west corner of the property will mimic the colors of the warehouse. Mr. Liggett asked if
the glazing in the windows would be clear or.incorporate color, and suggested a blue tint would
look very good. Mr. Cerny stated we are looking into a tint for the windows. Mr. Schirmer
advised we have worked very hard to be sensitive to everyone around us, CEI has a 250 ft.
easement that runs all the way across the back north side of our lot, and we are also going to
mound the landscaping along the back of the property. Mr. Zergott noted a key was not included
with the plans. Mr. Cerny stated the plants are only listed on the drawings. Mr. Zergott
commented, although I see you are working very hard to do a good job, I would still like to see a
key. Mr. Zergott asked if roof top units were being used. Mr. Youngman answered no the air
conditioning units will be placed behind the mezzanine. Mr. Zergott inquired about the
dumpsters, and asked if a construction company would be picking them up. Mr. Youngman
stated there is a brick structure and it will be covered, and out of site. Mr. Yager asked to see
more landscaping in the South front of the building and for it to be included with the keys as
noted earlier.
M. Yager motioned to accept the plans as written with the exceptions of 1. A revised landscaping
plan be submitted which shows cases and highlights the parking area towazds the cul de-cak with
a key, and a consideration to tinting the windows be made. The motion was seconded by B.
Zergott and unauimously approved. Note: In the framing of the motion it was determined that 2
updated landscape drawings would be needed which should indicate plant sizes, along with an
updated drawing showing the revised elevations.
B) Ascension Lutheran Church, 28081 Lorain Road
Proposal to construct build.ing addition phase 1 only. Heard by plauning covimission March 10,
1998 and Apri114, 1998. Heard by board of zoning appeals March 26, 1998.
Sue Kopko, Mr. Mongello, Mr. Moyer, and Mr. Dillon were present to represent Ascension
' Lutheran church. Ms. Kopko presented snap shots for board members to review the grounds and
existiug bu.ildings. There are three different brick colors being used, the color for phase one is
modtsm (a shade of red), it will not match the existing bu.ilding, but will match the church located
