?
r
north on the site map. Mr. Yager suggested that phase one building match the existing building,
as the phase one project shows exact root gable, pitch and elevation throughout, and the desired
brick might not be available when phase two is staited. Mr. Zergott suggested that the north side
of phase one's brick color should match the existing brick color, and then on the east side of
phase one you could use the color that will match the phase twQ building. Mr. Liggett
recommended that the interior court located between the phase one building, and the proposed
phase two building be taken out for security proposes. Mr. Yager suggested the architect check
the fire wall requirements for distance and compare it with the distance being shown. Mr.
Mongello agreed to check the requirements for fire walls. Ms. Kopko agreed to match the
existing brick color the best she could, and stated the shingles will be onyx black. Mr. Zergott
inquired as to what was being done along the lines of landscaping. Ms. Kopko stated no
Landscaping has been planed for this phase, as the work is being completed on what is now a
driveway. Mr. Yager did not understand why the church would build a school for kids and not
put in some kind of landscaping for them. Mr. Zergott suggested eli9ninating the cascading stairs
on the South end of the building wliich would lead people to walk directly into traffic entering and
exiting that d.riveway. He recommended putting in a single set of stairs and landscaping around
them. Mr. Mongello advised his company would draw something up on landscaping and get it to
Mr. Zergott for review. Mr. Liggett asked if the fire department had been to the site to check the
tunung radius for their trucks. There does not appear to be much room on the south west side, if
any cars are parked in the spaces the fire trucks would have trouble getting in. Mr. Mongello
stated we will draw something up.
T. Liggett motioned to accept the Ascension Lutheran Church, 28081 Lorain Road project the
way it is written, with the exceptions of the brick colors that need to match the addition that it will
abut to. The materials that are suggested are basically O.K. Addressing the south porch,
eliminate the cascade stairs and landscape the area that is now shown as a concrete wa1k. The east
side of phase one building should provide for some kind of landscape area which should be
submitted for Mr. Zergott's approval. The motion was seconded by B. Zergott, and unanimously
approved.
In the framing of the motion Mr. Yager stated he would like to make a comment to the church
owners. You should thiuk long and hard about the original caricature and how it's natural
woodsy setting will be affected by what you are doing now. You're taking away"that caricature
and becoming more of a massive asphalt leading right up to the face of the building. He noted the
developer lost the beauty of the facility, and the spirit of the building with it's natural
surroundings. When you are looking at phase two and phase three you should look long and hard
at how you would want to address these things. Whether it be young toddlers today or kids
tomorrow the way these facility's are going, they are taking on day-care activities, because they
have a kitchen facility, and there is a need from the community for it. Mr. Yager added much
emphasis should be place on the children and outdoor area, because a child well served becomes
someone that comes back to the church later in life and it permeates itself as it goes and helps the
church continue to grow and move forward.
