'r . <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED . <br />BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS <br />"TOGE'IHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!" <br />MINUTES - AUGUST 6, 1998 @ 7:30 P.M. <br />Chairman Gomersall called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M. <br />Present: R. Gomersall, T. Koberna, J. Maloney, and J. Kremzar. <br />Absent: J. Konold <br />Also Present: Law Director M. Gareau, Commissioner D. Conway, and <br />A.ssistant Clerk of Commissions D. Rote. <br />J. Maloney move to approve the minutes of the July 2, 1998 meeting. The motion was seconded by J. <br />Kremzar, and unanimously approved. Motion Carried. <br />Chairman Gomersall advised that each case would be judged on the physical situation peculiar to itsel? so <br />that in no way is a judgnnent rendered considered to be a general policy judgment affecting properties and <br />like situations elsewhere. <br />1. Sportsman Barber Shop: 30650 Lorain Road; <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request a variance to place ground sign in the 35 foot triangle <br />(1163.12 - B). Also request the following variances for items other than signage: 1) Permission to <br />use dwelling for residential purposes witliout having a private garage (1135.02 - c); 2) A 10 foot <br />side yard variance for location of existing driveway (1139.07); and 3) A 5 foot side yard variance for <br />location of existing structure (1139.07). Violation of Ord. 90-125, Section(s) 1163.12 (B), 1135.02 <br />(c), and 1139.07. <br />Chairman Gomersall called all interested parties before the board. The oath was administered to Mr. <br />Dixon an architect representing Sportsman Barber shop who presented the proposal. Mr. Gomersall <br />asked the clerk to make a correction to the Barber shops address as the notifications had an enor. <br />Mr. Dixon indicated that Mr. Sportsman had a barber shop on Madison and because the crime rate is <br />up he would like to move his business. The house was purchased with the intent of using the house <br />as his place of business and personal residence. After he purchased the home Mr. Sportsman realized <br />the barber shop would not work in the house, so we are here tonight to ask the board for 3 different <br />variances so we may turn the garage into a barber shop. The zoning is for retail so we fall in line <br />with the zoning. Mr. Gomersall reviewed the variances being asked for. Mr. Gomersall asked if Mr. <br />Sportsman would be using the house as his place of residence. Mr. Dixon indicated yes. Mr. <br />Gomersall asked were the parking would be. Mr. Dixon suggested there will be three parldng spaces <br />in the front. Mr. Gomersallnoted; this plan has gone before the Planniug commission , and the <br />Architectural review board and they both recommended the barber shop be granted their variances. <br />Mr. Koberna asked how many chairs will be in the barber shop. Mr. Dixon indicated there would be <br />two seats. No further questions were asked. <br />T.
