s ?
Chairman Gomersall called all interested parties before the board. The oath was administered to Linda
William's, who gave the presentation. 1VTiss. William's stated that she is one of the partners of the
salon. Mr. Gomersall read the request allowed. Miss William's stated the variances are for the
lettering that is used in the signs on the windows that says Hair, Nails, spa pedicure, facials, and
tanning that is what I'm asking for. Mr. Gomersall stated I was by there today and it is not intrusive at
all and we don't ordinarily allow this many signs for windows, but it would have to be understood that
you will not plaster the windows with all kinds of signs. Miss William's stated that she would not. T.
Koberna stated I have one question for you if you could define this picture it has a second sign here.
Miss William's stated the second sign is not part of our variance it is old from the shop we used to be
in and the therapist has purchased it from us and she is in the process in getting a new sign made and
put up, our new sign states Dover Tower a Full Service Salon, and the reason I'm asking for the
variances is we can not state more then two items in the new sign, and we are not just a hair salon we
have added the tanning, spa pedicure, and we nced people to Imow that as we have been doing hair in
this shop for 30 years and now we have expanded. Mr. Gomersall stated when I looked at your signs it
didn't jump out at you or in any way was it intrusive. Miss William's stated we went to New York and
we were told to kcep it clear, and simple that is what we are trying to do.
T. Kobema Moved to grant Dover Hair & Nails 4880 Dover Center Road, (1). a variance of 15.5' of
sign face area for a business unit the code pernuts 27.0' where as they have installed 42.5', (2). a
variance to keep 6 window sign as permitted. WIlNDOW SIGNS. Violation of Ord. 90-125, Section.
1163.11 (c), 1163.12 (g). The motion was seconded by R. Gomersall and unanimously approved.
VARIANCE GRANTED.
3. Candlewood Hote124741 Country.Club Blvd.:
Request for variance (1123.12). Request the following variances, A 20' variance for front setback to
construct a gazebo (100' req's). Request variance to have cooking facilities in all units ( 125). Request
11'.4' variance for each of the 93 units that do not meet minimum code requirements of 345' of floor
area. SIGNAGE: Request variance for second wall sign ( 1 allowed) -" 45.75' variance for each wall
sign #1& #2 ( 75' allowed). Note: The following is not recommended by Plaruung Commission. 1). Room sizes that does
not comply. 2) Signage "does not comply". Violation of Ord. 90-125, Section. 1149.04 (c), 1139.06,
1163.12 (A), 1163.12 (b), and 1163.11 (b).
Chairman Gomersall called all interested parties before the board. The oath was administered to
7erome Gould, President of Jen'part inc. General partrier of Great Northern properties owners selling,
Chris Darnel, Project manager for Candlewood, Jeff, Melby, entitlement manager for Wise builders.,
David Nemecek, Candlewood representative. Mr. Koberna stated before you start your presentation I
understand there has been some changes since you went to the Architectural review board conceming
the variances. Mr. Nemecek stated Tom revised the variances slightly the way the City calculated, the
signage, and the square footage of the floor area. Mr. Kobema stated he would be interested in hearing
about these changes. Mr. Nemecek stated we will be going in on Country Club Blvd. next to the
Homestead, and Country Courtyard, basically are intent is to build a four story 125 unit and what we
are aslang for is a couple of variances as you can see, one of the variances we are asking for is a 20' ft.
setback for a gazebo, the gazebo is exactly 20' ft. into the 100 foot setback along Country Club Blvd.
it's a landscape structure and heavily landscaped by one of the local landscapers here in town the
planning commission seem to' like and approved that variance request, I could answer questions
