Kobema Moved to grant Bernie Schmetzer: 23496 Mastic Road,; a special pernut to use a tent for the <br />propose of storage in a residential area while house is under construction, with the stipulation that the tent shall <br />be removed 1 year from March 5, 1998. The motion was seconded by R. Gomersall and Unanimously <br />approved. Variance granted. - <br />Mr. Conway stated we are starting to enforce the grandfather class on the sign ordinance, and compounded with <br />that we have some major construction projects going on at the great northem strip senator. I would like to ask <br />this board if I have permission to be able to gtant some temporary signage in the interim, we will have parties <br />coming to us to go into a new store front in an existing strip center, and I'm under the understanding that we will <br />not allow signs to go on a building were there is non-conforming signs, so rather let them put up a new sign and <br />then send the board back here for the other 5 tenants it would not work. I would like some inteipretation as to <br />what I have the right to do. Mr. Gomersall stated does anyone on the board have any questions as to what D. <br />Conway is asking for, how long would you like the time period to be for Mr. Conway. Mr. Conway stated <br />because of the nature of the matter that the time frame should be left open. <br />Mr. Gomersall Moved to grant that it is within the power and authority for the Building commissioner to issue <br />temporary signs with respect to construction projects were they are deemed appropriate by the building <br />department. The motion was seconderl by T. Kobema and Unanimously approvecl.
