asked who the Deawoo automotive company was and where they were from. Mr. Waldren suggested they ?
are the Sth largest company of car builders and came to the United States last year. Mr. Brennan asked if this was their first store. Mr. Waldren indicated that their first car lots were based in California. He
further suggested there would be a car lot on the East Side of Cleveland as well as in North Olmsted. Mr.
Kline suggested the owners of the Daewoo manufactures are also the owners of the building, so when a car
is purchased the people are buying their car from the manufacture. Mr. Asseff asked how they compared
to Honda. Mr. Waldren suggested they were about the same. Concerned residents came forward to review
the site plans. The rear neighbors were concerned with the intercom system, as they could hear the
intercom in their home with the windows closed. They were also concerned about the lights from the
parking lot. An unidentified gentleman indicated the noise from KFC and other commercial business
intercoms were a nuisance as well as the lights, which have been on late at night. He suggested all the
commercial businesses promised to keep the lights and noise levels down coming in, but once they are in
they don't care. Mr. Brennan questioned what the developer was going to do to address the noise level. He
fiirther indicated the rear neighbors need consideration as they have put up with a lot. Mr. Waldren
suggested he didn't know what was allowed when they first started bringing in cars and setting up. Since
he found out there were to be no vehicles in the back of the building, they have made sure there weren't
any. Mr. Botson suggested when cars were being broken into they helped the dealers by calling the police
and the dealer still showed no concem for them. Mr. Mohoney Indicated there should not be any outdoor
speakers in the back of the building. Mr. Brennan suggested the residents should call their councilman and
make them address the issue with the dealership. Mrs. Botson suggested she thought the developers were
going to expand the back of the building. The speakers also bother her. If they were allowed the glass
enclosure, would it create more noise. Mr. Kline suggested the glass would be insulated and the noise level
in a showroom is not the same level as the outside. Mrs. Botson suggested the car washing be done in a
different area. Mr. Waldren suggested the car wash was located in the building. Mrs. Boston suggested
the developers set up a contact person for the residents to speak with when they have a problem. Mr.
Waldren suggested he would be happy to be the contact person, and would try to work with the residents.
An unidentified woman suggested in prior minutes from the Halleen dealerships meetings there was a no
loud speakers outdoors requirement. Mr. Dubelko suggested he would review the minutes to see what was
said. Mr. Dubelko suggested the noise ordinance should be looked at and maybe, the use of outdoor
speakers should be band. He questioned why outdoor intercoms were needed. He suggested he would look ,
at the minutes and see what was said and if it was binding for the new owners. If what was said is not
binding, than the residents would have to ask council to address the issue. Mr. Nelson suggested the
parking lot lights were a nuisance, during the winter moths, as the trees could not block the light. He had
also noticed an increase in the volume of noise since the new owners purchased the lot. He asked if cars
would be moved around as much as they had been lately. Mr. Waldren suggested the reason for the
movement of cars was for the initial setup. Mr. Brennan asked what the developers were going to do to
address the residents concerns. Mr. Waldren suggested he would lower the volume of the intercom and
angle the speakers down. Mr. Brennan suggested mounting the spealcers in the back of the lot and
directing them towards the building. Mr. Hreha suggested when they found out about the trucks not being
allowed in the back of the building, the owner made sure the trucks were kept from the back. This would
be a good opportunity for the owners to make a kind gesture and remove the intercom system. With the
technology available today there should be a way to eliminate the speakers. Mr. Asseff suggested the
developer use clip on intercom systems. Mr. Waldren suggested they would look into other means of
communications. Mr. Brennan suggested the board was not able to address the noise, but they would like
to suggest that Daewoo come into City Hall to find out what noise decibels are aloud. The unidentified
woman indicated she was not against the developers getting their variance, but would like to see them get
rid of the speakers. The residents were also concerned that the new owners would e,cpand in the back of the
lot. Mr. Brennan suggested there was an easement in the back that could not be used. Mr. Koeth indicated
that if the developer wanted to do any work in the back they would have to come before this board.
T. Brennan motioned to approve Daewoo Motor America of 27881 Lorain Road their proposal to expand
the existing showroom, which will include existing canopy and overhang. That Daewoo be referred to the
