SIGNS :
Developers Diversified (Babies "R" IJs); 26520 Lorain Avenue:
Proposal consists of sign package for Babies "R" Us.
Mr. Blair and 1VIr. Elbin were present to address the sign package for Babies "R" IJs. Mr.
Elbin indicated that the monument sign would be simple in design and show Babies "R" Us,
have a space for a future second tenant and have Developers name in the final panel. Mr.
Yager questioned if the monument sign met the size criteria. Mr. Rymarczyk suggested the
size should be O.K. His concern is where it would be located on the plans to make sure it is
not located in an area that may require variances. Mr. I,iggett questioned if multiple tenant
signs were allowed. Mr. Rymarczyk indicated they were allowed. Mrs. Schulz suggested it
was not proportioned right for the number of tenants there will be. She didn't think that
Developers Diversified should advertise themselves on the sign, as they will not be a tenant of
the building. Mi-. Yager suggested that the only time anyone would need to know that
Developers Diversified was the owner is if Babies "R" Us goes out of business. Mr. Blair
suggested that the name could come out of the sign, but they would want Developers
Diversified on the base as they have it on all their properties. Mr. Rymarczyk indicated he
would have to check if the owner's name is allowed on the ground sign. Mr. Yager suggested
the baby superstore should be removed, and only have Babies "R" Us on the ground sign.
Mr. Elbin indicated that the reason the baby superstore was on the ground sign was because it
is their trademark. Mr. Rymarczyk commented that if it was a registered trademark they are
allowed to have it. Mr. Yager suggested the size was fine but would like to see the purple or
teal used instead of the black, as it is not used anywhere else. IVIr. Liggett suggested making it
the color of the brick. Mr. Yager suggested making the sign base brick to match the existing
building. Mr. Elbin suggested a brick base would be fine, but commented that the corporation
likes to use bronze on the signs frame as it is a quite color. Mr. Liggett suggested that if a
brick base was used the bronze frame would work. Mr. Yager suggested that the colors
being used in the letters are targeted at children and works. The board briefly discussed that
colored lettering should only be allowed on signs that relate Yo children. NPi-. Yager suggested
that if the facade vvere reduced in size, the Babies "R" Us letters would also need to be
reduced. Mr. Blair suggested that if the size were changed he didn't think the size of the
