Mr. Koberna asked if there had been a shed
in the same location prior to the shed that Mr. Glassco erected. 1VIr. Glassco indicated there had been a shed
in the same place, which was deteriorating. He was not aware that he needed a permit as he was just
replacing the dilapidated shed with a new shed. Mr. Gomersall suggested when he viewed the site it was
well hidden, but in the future Mr. Glassco should check with the building department to avoid being sited.
Mr. 0'Mally an abutting neighbor suggested he didn't have a problem with the shed and indicated he sent a
letter that indicated he would like to see Mr. Glassco be able to keep the shed.
7. Mr.
Schramm of Schramm signs, and Mr. Umek, the General manager for Conrad's came forward to present
their proposal. Mr. Gomersall asked if the signs in question were new. Mr. Schramm suggested they would
just be replacing the eYisting signage. Mr. Conway suggested the size of the proposed signage is almost
double what is presently there. Mr. Gomersall asked Mr. Conway to review the signage for him. Mr.
Conway indicated they presently have 145 square feet now and asking for 314 square feet. Mr. Schramm
suggested it would be 28" inches by 4'foot if you make a complete box around the sign, which is on the front
of the building. Mr. Gomersall suggested the signage is being doubled. Mr. Umek suggested they needed
the signage for the new company. Mr. Schramm suggested the size was incorrect because the way the code
is written a box is placed around the letters and only one letter is 36" inches the others are 24"inch letters.
Mr. Conway suggested Mr. Schramin was trying to justify the size and what needed to be discussed is the
signage being asked for. The applicants have gone from a signal name to Conrad's Total Car Care. Mr.
Umek suggested the elevations were such that the size requested, would be required to be seen from the main
road. Mr. Gomersall asked why 4'foot letters were needed. Mr. Schramm suggested all the letters are
2'foot letters except one, which is 3'foot, it is because of the box that has to be placed around the total sign.
Mr. Kremzar asked if the sign on the doors were really needed. Mr. Umek suggested the identity on the door
was not as important as the signs on the mansard. Mr. Gomersall indicated the applicants are requesting 175
square feet for the southem East End. Mr. Conway asked if the checkered flags were needed. Mr. Umek
suggested it was their logo. The need for the signage is due to letting the public know that they are a
complete car care faciiity not just a tire store. Mr. Schramm suggested the sizes of the flags are 4' feet. He
suggested the logos are needed because the size of the building is such that the sign gets lost, so the logos are
used to balance the look. Mr. Umek indicated a pole sign has been removed and no ground sign will be
used. Mr. Gomersall asked if the applicants were indicating they would be happy with two wall signs. Mr.
2
