W. Kremzar motioned to approve Geppetto's, of 4967 Dover Center Rd. their request for variance (1123.12). The proposal is to hang a temporary banner, and the following variance be granted. A variance to install a 4' x 8' foot banner for 90 days. (code prohibits this type of advertising). Which is in violation of Ord. 90-125, Section 1163.04 (g). The motion was seconded by, J. Konold, and unanimously approved. Variance Granted. 10. Goodwill 23999 Lorain Rd.; Request for variance (1123.12). proposal of sign package. The following variance is requested: 1) A 1' foot variance for wall sign height (code permits 4'foot applicant request 5' foot). Which is in violation of Ord. 90-125, section (1136.12 (a)). Note: Applicant waiits to reface a non conforming wall sign. Chairman Gomersall called all interested parties forward and reviewed the variances being requested. Mr. Gvora, came forward to present Goodwill's proposal. Mr. Gomersall asked if the existing box is a 5'foot bo:c and if their intent is to just reface the existing box. Mr. Gvora indicated Mr. Gomersall was correct. No further questions were asked. 7. Maloney motioned to approve Goodwill, of 23999 Lorain Rd. their request for variance (1123.12). proposal consist of a sign package, and that the following variance be granted; 1) A 1' foot variance for wall sign heigllt (code permits 4'foot applicant request 5' foot). Which is in violation of Ord. 90-125, section (1136.12 (a)). Note: Applicant wants to reface a non conforming wall sign. The motion was seconded by, W. Kremzar and unanimously approved. Variance Granted. 11. Republic Bank. 26777 Lorain Rd.; Request for variance (1123.12). Proposal consist of sign package. The following variances are requested: 1) A variance to reface the following non-conforming sings #2, #3, and #4. (code states that the entire sign shall be brought into compliance with all other provisions of the zoning code) (1163.19 (a)). 2) A variance to reface an existing prohibited pole sign #4 which projects 2'-3' feet into the public right of way (1163.22 (a) °). 3) A 2' foot height variance for each canopy sign #2 and #3 ( code permits 1'foot, 6"inch, applicant requests 2'feet, 6"inch (1163.12 (d)). 4} A variance to have an additional canopy sign #3. (code permits only 1 applicant requests 2(1163.12 (d)). 5) An 82.5' square foot variance for sign face area of a business (code permits 85'sq. ft., applicants requests 167.5'sq. ft. (1163.11 °). 6) A 19.5' square foot variance for szgn face area of free standing signage. (code permits 30' sq. ft., applicants requests 49.5' sq. ft.( 1163.11 (a)). 7) A 102 square foot variance for sign face area for total business use. (code permits 115' sq. ft., applicants requests 217' sq. ft. (1163.11 (a)). NOTE: Su1ce pole signs are not covered in the code, other than to say they are prohibited, had pole sign #4 been a pylon it would have needed variances for the following: #1 setback, #2 Height, #3 encroaching on the public right of way, #4 square footage, and #5 Changeable copy. Violation of Ord. 90-125, 5ections 1163.19(a), 1163.22(a)(c), 1163.12(d), 1163.12(d), and 1163.11(c), Chairman Gomersall called all interested parties forward and reviewed the variances being requested. Mr. Sawitke, came forward to present his proposal. Mr. Gomersall asked if Mr. Sawitke didn't think asking for 7 variances was a little to much. Mr. 5awitke suggested he had tried to eliminate as many variances as possible, but because of the location of the existing pole sign there was only so much that could be done. The bank is no longer a Savings and Loan institution , therefore under federal guidelines Savings has to be removed from their name. Representing the sign company, he would love to bring the sign into code to sale all new cabinets according to the square footage set forth by the City's ordinance, 13
