8. James Lumber; 27375 Lorain Rd.
Request for variance 1123.12. The proposal consists of temporarily displaying of seasonal
toys in the required 75-foot commercial setback. The following variance is requested:
A 53 foot 8 inch variance for front commercial setback (code requires 75 feet, applicant
shows 21 foot 4 inches) Which is in violation of Ord. 90-125 section 1139.07. Note: The
Board of Zoning Appeals board tabled this proposal 6/1/00 and 7/6/00. Vice Chairman, Maloney called all interested parties forward to review the request. No one
came forward to represent James Lumber. Mr. Gareau suggested that as this was the 31d
month that James Lumber failed to be present the board could table the request indefinitely.
J. Maloney motioned to table James Lumber of 27375 indefinitely. The motion was seconded
by, T. Koberna and unanimously approved. Indefinitely Tabled.
9. Sign-Lite/Motorcars; 28450 Lorain Rd.
Request for variance (1123.12). The proposal consists of signage.
The following variances are requested:
1. A 42.6 square foot variance for maximum sign face for a building, (code permits 104sqft,
applicant shows 146.6sqft), section (1163.24 B).
2. A variance for 2 directional signs which are prohibited, (code permits 0, applicant shows
2), section 1163.25).
3. A 3 inch variance for height of the wall sign, (code permits 4ft, applicant shows 4 ft.3
inch), section (1163.27 C).
4. A 46.6 square foot variance for a wall sign which exceeds 100.0 square foot, (code
permits 100.00sqft, applicant shows 146.6sqft), section (1163.27 C).
Which is in violation of section (1163.24 B), (1163.25) and (1163.27 C).
Vice Chairman, Maloney called all interested parties forward and reviewed the request. The
oath was administered to Mr. Kincade, with Sign-Light and Mr. D'Amato, with Motorcars.
Mr. Kincade indicated that the owners do not have any signage. There are 3 l lfoot 6 inch
sections that contain the letters that are 30 inches in height. Most cities measure the sign by
an imaginary line around the letters to come up with the size of the sign, but North Olmsted
measures by the total framing of the sign. There is also a safety problem at the entrance as it
is busy the directional signs are needed. Mr. D'Amato questioned what would be needed to
have a pylon sign. Mr. Conway reviewed what the applicants would need to do to apply for a
pylon sign. No further comments were made.
T. Koberna motioned to approve Sign-Lite/Motorcars of 28450 Lorain 'tid. therr request for
variance (1123.12). Which consists of signage and that the following variances be granted:
l. A 42.6 square foot variance for maximum sign face for a building, (code permits 104sqft,
applicant shows 146.6sqft), section (1163.24 B).
2. A variance for 2 directional signs which are prohibited, (code permits 0, applicant shows
2)., section 1163.25).
3. A 3 inch variance for height of the wall sign, (code permits 4ft, applicant shows 4 ft.3
inch), section (1163.27 C).
4. A 46.6 square foot variance for a wall sign which exceeds 100.0 square foot, (code
pernuts 100.00sqft, applicant shows 146.6sqft), section (1163.27 C).
Which is •in violation of sections (1163.24 B), (1163.25) and (1163.27 C). The motion was
seconded by, W. Kremzar and unanimously approved. Variances Granted.
6
