ROLL CALL: <br />Chairman, Tallon called the meeting to order at 7:55pm. <br />PRESENT: Chairman, R. Tallon, Board members, W. Spalding, S..Asseff, T. Hreha, R. Koeth, K. <br />O'Rourke and C. Allan. <br />ALSO PRESENT: Assistant Law Director, J. Dubelko, City Engineer, P. Deichmann, Assistant <br />Building Commissioner, T. Rymarczyk and Clerk of Commissions, D. Rote. <br />H. REVEEW AND CORRECTION OF MINLJTES: The Planning Commission minutes dated <br />October 24, 2000 have been submitted for approval. <br />R. Tallon motioned to approve the Planning Commission minutes dated October 24, 2000 as <br />written. The motion was seconded by K. O'Rourke; roll call on the motion: R. Tallon, K. <br />O'Rourke, S. Asseff, T. Hreha and C. Allan; "yes", R. Koeth abstain. Motion Carried. <br />III. BUILDINGDEPARTMENT REQUESTS: <br />1. Technolo Fark 1 Teligent Inc ) 25111-25165 Countrv Club Blvd.: <br />Proposal consists of installing a 24-inch microwave antenna on a two- (2) story building for use <br />with fixed wireless telephone technology. Note: height variance will be required. <br />Chainnan Tallon called all interested parties forward to review their proposal. Mr. Tallon <br />commented that the board would address both issues 1& 2 at the same time as they were tied <br />together. Mr. Wanamaker, the representatiye for Teligent came forward to review the proposal. <br />This matter has been before the Planning Commission before, for other sites that were approved. <br />The antenna is for a fixed wireless telephone.technology. The system itself works the same way <br />as a telephone accept instead of a hard line it is a microwave transmission of the data from one <br />building to the neat. It is a hub and spoke technology which means, they find a tall building place <br />antennas on top of that and then each building that is a customer receives one antenna and some <br />equipment within the building. The two buildings before you tonight are customer buildings, <br />which will be serviced by one antenna each, and equipment within each of their buildings. The <br />owners are seeking a positive recommendation for the height variances that are required from the <br />Board of Zoning Appeals. At the request of the building departinent photos were taken to <br />present the board with a view of the site in question. Mr. Asseff questioned what the advantage <br />to this type of system was compared to a landline and wireless. Mr. Wanamaker indicated that <br />the company is indicating that they can save the customer 30% of his/her monthly telephone <br />charges. They offer long distance, local Internet access, and high speed downloads. Teligent is a <br />commercial business only they do not deal with residential. Mr. Spalding questioned if the <br />applicants would require a height variance every time they put up one of their antennas. Mr. <br />Wanamaker answered, only if the height of the building is lower then five stories. Mr. Tallon <br />questioned the height of the antenna from the rooftop. Mr. Wanamaker commented that the <br />antenna will be 8 feet and the mast is 10 feet with the antenna placed on that. The photos show a <br />mock antenna that was placed on the roof with a 10-foot piece of pipe to give the board an idea <br />of what it will look like.
