ti
side of the building. They told Mr. Tallon that they would never do that at Great Northern, but
what do they have on the front of the Great Northern building now, chain fences laying against
the building with signs on them. Mr. Tallon commented that if they want this type of junk thing
they shouldn't have come to North Olmsted. This is a very nice shopping center and they want it
to remain that way, the Home Depot constantly impedes the pedestrian walkways. Mr. Tallon
commented that he saw a man in a wheel chair wheeling in the street because he couldn't get
through the sidewalk in front of Home Depot because they had too many barbecue grills chained
together, six thousand carts everywhere, and fence.laying against the building. Mr. Tallon spoke
for the board- as a whole in saying this isn't what the Planning Commission expected and this isn't
what they were promised. They were promised a class development, where is it? Mr. Packard
answered that he is partly responsible for this in running the store, it has been a tough year and
some decisions were made that he doesn't agree with, if you've drove past the store now there are
carts out there but that is it. Mr. Packard then assured the members that the carts would come
inside shortly and that is the way it is going to stay. Mr. Hreha questioned that if one of the
members come to Home Depot and see something like that can they come and talk to the
manager about it. Mr. Packard commented "yes". Mr. Tallon questioned if any _audience
members had comments or questions about this proposal to come forward. Billie Oring of 25520
Clubside Dr. #10 came forward to comment on the proposal. Mrs. Oring commented that she
doesn't live behind Home Depot but she lives behind JoAnn Fabrics, unfortunately though she
can hear the trucks comirig in at midnight if her windows are open. Mr. Hreha questioned if they
are Home IDepot trucks. Mrs. Oring comrriented that she thinks so -because they are down that
way. When her windows are closed and her air is on she can't hear them, but the people behind
Home Depot must definitely hear them. The property manager sent the homeowners behind
Home Depot letters stating that they were going to plant ivy on the mounds back in May. The
mounds are just piles of mulch, with a few plantings. The trucks are her biggest complaint; at
one time there was talk of putting up a sign stating that they are not supposed to come in past
9:30 at night. No sign was ever installed. The police do not show up in time because when they
get there the lights and motors are shut off. The Home Depot has a lot of things piled up in the
back. Home Depot should be made to follow the same rules as the rest of the stores and
proposals have to abide by in the city. Jerry Peterman of 25230 Clubside Dr. came forward to
review her comments. Mrs. Peterman questioned if any of their plans will affect the rear of the
_ building. Mr. Fredrickson commented "not at this time". Mrs. Peterman commented that. she
would be protesting any further plans for the rear of the building because the noise back there is
excessive at all hours from midnight to two in the morning. The mound needs a lot of help; it is
a brown, decaying eye soar right behind her back door. Grace Dubler of 25600 Country Club
Blvd. Unit #1 came forward to express her opinions. Mrs. Dubler was disappointed with the
support the city gave the residents when Home Depot first opened. They enlarged the mound but
they did not increase the landscaping on the mound. Adding mulch to the mound does nothing
but clog the sewer when it rains. They either need a lot more landscaping, plants, trees and
shrubs or seeded and mowed so there is something there beside dirt or mulch. She also
questioned that with the increased traffic that is coming from the additional retail that is going in,
how much more can the city allow. Especially during the holiday season people can hardly get
in and out of there. Norm Alson of 25230 Clubside #11 came forward to review his thoughts.
Mr. Alson questioned where they are going to do all this service repair on equipment that comes
back. Also behind JoAnn Fabrics when they blocked the road off nobody considered another
sewer and when heavy rain falls the water lies there like a small pond. There was a sewer back
6
