« .
.+
context if you will the relationship between the addition of Dillard's and the rest of the mall. Did
you each receive the plans that were submitted? The pictures before you depict the four
elevations or directions of view. It gives you a two dimensional idea of how the addition will look
on the skyline of the mall. I think the board would agree that it has a distinctive look to it, it is
meant to stand out and create a very positive and very strong image for the mall accordingly. I
will try to give the board a little more of an overview before deferring to those people whom have
much more expert'ise in dealing with specific issues that were raised by the architectural review
board. I will first ask Mr. Cassiere to speak about the materials and detail of the Dillard's facility.
Mr. Barker Is also on hand as there were questions raised as to the positioning of Dillard's in
relationship to the entrance off of Country Club Boulevard as well as just to discuss details of the
mall addition. There will be 30,000 square feet of space in the connector section between the
existing mall and the new department store. These colored drawings show you and we do have
photos to try to demonstrate comparison of materials and other sites that feature a lot of the
products that are talked about tonight. The question that was raised at the architectural review
board meeting was to show the connection of this facility and demonstrate the materials that are
going to be included in the site. Thus showing the transition of how this will fit aesthetically as
far as materials go. Just below me on the podium and I will defer to Mr. Cassiere momentarily to
explain the different materials that are being used on the site. There were questions raised on the
lighting we have provided details for lighting, landscaping, and I am not sure if there were any
questions regarding specific landscaping plans. We have demonstrated for the mall addition the
product that will be covering the wall. The masonry product and the parapet walls are continuous
in order to mask any of the impertinence's that will go off on the rooftops so you will not see
those, as they will be screened from view. There was some questions raised about the positioning
of the building overall that Mr. Barker can address. Without any further ado I am going to turn it
over to -Mr: Cassiere whom can explain to the board really the changes that were made since the
architectural review board meeting last week. We have tried to put together and respond and I
feel that the board will agree in terms of materials, in terms.of design features, we have made a lot
of adjustments. We think that overall the architectural statement this building makes is a solid one.
Mr. Joe Cassiere: With Architecture + in Monroe Louisiana, first of all the intent of the design is
to reflect the role that the anchor store will play at a regional mall. In addition, it will create a
recognizable image for the customer. This is a three-story building, which will be approximately
219,000 square feet. What we have done is emphasized the entrance and in emphasizing the
entrance we have wall movement, on either side of the entrance elements. Then when you reach
the entrance element there is a vertical brick element that was recommended by the architectural
review board. There are vertical elements, which gives the feeling of supporting the arch motif
that rises above the parapet, which is 8-feet high. Then in the vertical surface of the arch we have
spandrel glass and then from there our lighting. We have lighting on top of the canopy as well as
lighting on the vertical grip elements. Down at the customer level, which we call below the
canopy, there is granite surrounding the storefront doors. Then the vertical elements supported
by the pedestals there is a material called Ameristone, which is an E.F.I.S. material, but a different
texture. Another element that we have at the entrance is down lighting on the canopy. From there
we go to the major wall areas and what there is there is a wall 16-feet 6-inches high masonry band
around the building, which was recommended by the architectural review board. I met with
Dillard's and they considered the suggestion and added to it. The masonry band will come up to
an E.F.I.S. cap, which is the transition to the E.F.I.S. Material. Then there will be scoring joints
2
