does have two window signs, panels just on the inside of the window and he didn't know those'
were being reviewed and questioned whether the Architectural Review Board reviewed signs
inside the windows. Mr. Zergott replied not usually. Mr. Conway implied that nobody
submits for window signs. Mr. Self indicated that the signs were very small signs: one
indicating American Greetings and the other indicating a one hour photo sign which is a Kodak
logo. Mr. Self indicated that if the Board of Zoning Appeals disagrees with that then they
would just deal with it then. Mr. Self went on to explain that the receivino, entrance and the
entrance signs are non-illuminated on a white panel with red letters for where the delivery
trucks must go. Mr. Zergott questioned if that was the "H" sign. Mr. Self replied yes. Mr.
Zergott questioned if it was on the outside of the building. Both Mr. Zergott and Ms. Schultz
questioned why the si?n would go on the north-East Side of building. Mr. Self indicates that
the "H" sign should be placed on the north west side of the building wall. Mr. Self indicated
that the sign would be on the door where the deliverymen would knock. Mr. Self then
reviewed that the awning letters would be painted on the canopy of the drive-thru and not the
plastic letters previously discussed. Mr. Self indicated that they normally put vinyl letters on
the panel which are usually no bigger than nine inches. Mr. Self indicated that everything the
Planning Corrunission wanted removed has been removed, and none of the signs are illuminated
except the CVS signs. He suggested that the Planning Commission wanted a specific light at
the entranceway. So it will probably be a standard little CVS Enter. It might be the 4-sq. ft. or
8-sq. ft. and it probably won't have those lights shining on it. Mr. Zergott asked if anyone fiad
any comments. Mr. Yager indicated he had numerous questions and would begin with "A"
First, in your rendering here you have the identified as a 48-inch sign and will be no smaller.
Mr. Self replied no. Mr. Yager further questioned whether the letters would be white and not
red. Mr. Self replied yes. Mr. Yager has no further problems with "Al". Mr. Yager then
questioned if "AZ" is the 3 different signs. Mr. Self reviewed the signs have 18 inch red plastic
letters and they are non-illuminated. NIr. Yager questioned why the lettering wasn't white.
Mr. Self suggested that the red colored letters were changed to make the canopies and panels
continuous. Mr. Yager went on to review his opinion on these signs stating since they have let
everyone else have them, they couldn't then deny CVS the signs. Mr. Yager indicated this is the
inevitable by-product of us allowing, one of them. Mr. Liggett questioned if the lettering could
be changed to black to stand out a little better. Mr. Yager replied that it wouldn't matter. Mr.
Yager indicated that the public doesn't need to have all those signs directing them. NIr. Yager
then moved on to "C", the, monument sign: Mr. Yager questioned Mr. Conway on what is the
physical size of the monument sign, noting CVS's was 8' X 10", including the brick. Mr.
Conway answered that the architectural treatment was not included with the size of the
message. Mr. Yager questioned whether when looking at the "Al" sign and the "C" signs,
does that 0 meet the quantity codes that city has identified. Mr. Conway replied that he can't
say yes or no since they just received the plans the other day, but he is assuming there will be
some variances. Mr. Yager questioned whether or not the Rite Aide down the street had a
ground sign and wall sign. Mr. Zergott replied yes. Mr. Self reviewed that Rite Aid signs are
not opaque. Mr. Yager questioned that the CVS sign was opaque. Mr. Self responded that
the background would be opaque during the nighttime. The only thing that will be lit will be
the letters. Mr. Self suggested looking at the supplemental sketch that showed the night view
as wzll as the day view. Mr. Yager indicated he is concerned due to the fact that CVS keeps
changing their colors. You have white for the CVS and then red for the other signs and now
you have the black background. Mr. Self reiterated that the background only appears to be
black at night, but it is opaque. Mr. Yager moves on to " D". Mr. Yager indicated that there
are about 15. ground signs directing you to the drive-thru, why do you then need more wall
signs. It is going to be obvious that you are in the drive-thru lane. Mr. Self reiterated that the
letters will only be painted on the canopy itself and they will be vinyl letters and imprinted into
2
