the canvas. Mr. Yager reviewed where the "D" signs would be placed. The drive-thru /
,.pharmacy is going where? NIr. Self replied on the front of the canopy and they will be very
non-descript signs. Mr. Yager commented that the only sign needed is enter sign on drive-thru
canopy; you already have a ground sign saying doesn't enter. Once you get your prescriptions,
you know you have to exit, so who needs to tell someone to exit there. Mr. Yager then
indicated that the more signage you have, the more confused you could make the customers.
Mr. Self replied that it is supplementary. Mr. Yager responded that it isn't supplementary, it is
contradictory because once you see that sign, you might drive in there since the sign draws in
your eyes. When you have no sign there, you won't drive into there. Mr. Yager indicated
that maybe only one sign is needed on the canopy that tells you there is a drive-thru pharmacy
and remove the enter and the exit.- NIr. Self suggested that the exit sign is for safety; if you
have a snow drift in the winter time, it will cover that exit sign and people won't see it. This is
just a little sign with plastic letters and an arrow saying, "exit" and very minimal. Mr. Yager
indicated that ininimal is 9" x 8'5". NIr. Self indicated that it was a sfandard for the canopy
with the red letters. Mr. Self indicated that the Architectural Review Board propagated this
entire concept with the canopies, the building, and the design. The canopy letters will be non-
illuminated, with white lettering that identifies the drive-thru pharmacy. All the other canopies
that you wanted with the fake windows will have no lettering. Mr. Yager questioned who
CVS was serving by the sign that tells you about the drive-thru pharmacy there. Nobody can
go in that back door; that's been established at Porter Road by the "No exit" signs. There are
already two entrances that indicate where the drive-thru is with numerous ground signs. There
should only be No entrance or Exit signs. Ms. Schultz indicated that when people pull into the
parking lot, they are going to read the first words they see and those first words are ?oing to
be "drive-thru pharmacy": Mr. Yager indicated that if you just wanted to put the word exit
only, then ok, but there is no reason to put drive-thru pharmacy. If you put the drive-thru sign
there, you are going to have people thinking that is the access point no matter what your
ground signs say. Mr. Yager suggested taking that sign out and just putting "no entrance" or
just "exit" so that people don't go that way. Mr. Yager questioned where the window sign
Pharmacy pick up / drop off was to be placed. Mr. Self indicated it would be -put on the
window. In regards to the inforination sign about the pharmacy, Mr. Self explained it would
be placed one car length-before the drive-thru window that gives the information on how to use
the drive-thru. Mr. Yager proceeded to "E", wondering why is there so many sign E's.
There are two "E's" on Porter Road, why can't one be properly located. Mr. Self indicated that
it was.because of the Architectural Review Board's suggestions and all the controversy and
considerations with the traffic that was suggested by the community. Mr. Yager commented
that since they were following their own suggestions, I now suggest you cut that down to one
sign. Mr. Self indicated that when you are driving down Porter Road and there is a sign facing
here, you can't see it. If the community wants to take responsibility for an accident, that's fine,
but I believe that Zaremba at the meetings with the suggestions that came from your fire
department and the safety department that was the final determination. Mr. Yager corrected
N1r. Self that it was the final determination about the drive-thru canopy and the drive and the
safety department had no problems with that, not the signs. Mr. Liggett questioned whether
the concern is driving into the drive or leaving the drive. NIr. Self responded pulling into the
drive. Mr. Self suggested one sign would not be seen if you were coming from the one
direction. Mr. Yager suggested that if the sign was angled correctly it would be seen from all
angles. Ms. Schultz suggested she didn't have a problem with the two signs, but one sign
would be facing traffic coming from the north and the other sign from the south. The signs are
not two-sided sijn. NIs. Schultz went on to explain that you will find any major road that has
do not enter signs, they will have them on both sides. Mr. Zergott questioned if Mr. Yaaer
wanted the sign double faced. Mr. Yager commented yes and that he presumed the two signs
3
