"1 L
6. Garv Foreman• 27693 Butternut Rid e Road
Proposal consists of replacing boarded windows on west and south side of building with
glass block.
Mr. Lang commented that the proposal consists of replacing boarded-up windows on west
and south sides of building with glass block so as to illuminate the work area in the back of
his shop as well as to provide greater security with glass block. NIr. Gareau commented that
this gentleman was governed by an ordinance and he was kind of stuck in a vacancy, which
Mr. Gareau apologized for. He then questioned how long the windows had been boarded up
for. Mr. Foreman replied that the boards had been on for some twenty years. Mr. Gareau
commented that this is an opportunity to take boards off the side of the building and replace
it with glass block, which he has no problem with. Mr. Barker commented that he thought it
would help improve the corner seeing that CVS is being built. Mr. Foreman suggested that
he would like to replace the non-functioning doorway and brick it up and make another glass
block doorway. Mr. Gareau commented that would probably be approved under a minor
change format request because it is not a significant structural deviation. He then implied, so
that the minutes reflect accurately, the lowest portion of the window will not be lower than
the existing windows and that they are equal. Mr. Foreman suggested that his purpose is to
make his Pinball Shop look nicer and to increase the property value.
Mr. Lang motioned to approve replacing existing boarded up windows on west and south
side with glass block as well as fill in non-functioning west side doorway with top half glass,
bottom half brick aligned with other new window and repainted to match building. Seconded
by Mr. Corell and unanimously approved.
M. COlVIlVTUNICATIONS:
The Board needs to discuss Landmarks Commission Ordinance, requirements of Ordinance
that the Commission must meet and decisions the Commission must make regarding roofing,
siding, fencing, painting and landscaping.
NIr. Lang commented that he would like each of the members to re-read the 1999
replacement to chapter 165 the ordinance to the City of North Olmsted and to pay particular
attention to what the commission is required to do.
N. COMNIITTEE REPORTS:
1. Board needs to discuss writing Rules of Procedure rather than the by-laws that were
submitted at the May 8, 2000 meeting.
2. Board needs to discuss the goals, rules of procedures, address permit notice, plaque requests
and applications, as well as understanding the Landmarks Commission Ordinance itself.
3. The board needs to review and describe the boundaries of the "Butternut Historic District."
3
