CITY OF NOR1'H OLMSTED
"TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE"
LANDMARKS COMIVIIS5IOloT "SPECIAL MEETING"
A'IINUTES SEPTEMBER 25, 2000
7:00 P.M.
OLD TOWN HALL
I. ROLL CALL: Mr. Lang called the meeting to order at 7:10 P. M.
PRESENT: Chairman, J. Lang, Board members, L. VanAuken, B. Lord, P. Barker, A.
Smeraldi. ABSENT K. O'Rourke, M. Gareau 7r., C. Miller, and G. Corell.

II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF NBNtITES:
III. NEW BUSINESS:
IV. COMMUIVICATIONS:
V. COMIVBTTEE REPORTS:
VI. OLD BUSINESS:
Fred Biszantz: 26561 Butternut Ridge Rd.
Mr. Lang commented that he understands that Landmarks postponed this proposal until the
next regularly scheduled meeting in October. Mr. Biszantz expressed a concern that the job
be expedited so that what is to be done is completed before winter. That is the reason this
special meeting has been called. There was a question as to whether a special hearing needed
to be held, the law director advised the clerk of commissions that in fact last month's meeting
was the hearing, so the hearing is continued tonight. A rnajority of the Landmarks
Commission is present so the commission is free to act accordingly. Mr. Lang then
commented that there is a sample of the vinyl siding, which is white in color, approximately
a 3 and 1/2 inch lap siding and the entire house would be sheathed with this vinyl siding. Mr.
Biszantz commented that the main reason he is doing this is that the house needs insulation.
The vinyl siding will cover the fish scaled siding that is currently'on the upper portion of the
home. Mr. Biszantz added that there would; be no insulation on the attic because he does not
use his attic. Mr. Lang commented that the pictures show a lap siding on the bottom of the
house and at the top there is green fish scale shingle. Mr. Lang then explained that the board
needs to know if there will be two different types of siding on the house after the work is
done. Mr. Biszantz answered that he did not know and the board would have to talk to Sears
about that. Mrs. Lord commented that at the previous meeting the gentleman from Sears
indicated there would be no special treatment for the upper portion of the house. Mrs.
VanAuk'en questioried`if Sears could put this type of fish scale siding on the home instead of
lap siding. Again W. Biszantz commented that they would have to ask Sears. Mr. Barker
questioned if he could look at Mr. Biszantz's contract with Sears. Mr. Biszantz answered yes
and gave the contract to W. Barker. Mrs. VanAuken questioned if she was correct in saying
