that the house was white when he bought it. Mr. Biszantz answered yes. He then
commented that there would be no work done on the porch area. Mrs. VanAuken questioned
if there was any company that could provide the fish scaled shingles. 1V1r. Lang indicated that
he was not sure. Mrs. Lord questioned if it would be possible to just leave the fish scale
shingles the way they are. Mr. Biszantz answered no, it is deteriorating and something needs
to cover it. His biggest concern is the weather and his house being insulated in time for
winter. Mrs. Lord explained to Mr. Biszantz the historic district and the importance of his
historical home to the commission. She then explained that it is not recommended to remove
wood siding and replace it with anything besides wood or anything that was not available
during the time era the house was built. What would be recommended is to repair or replace
deteriorating material that duplicates in size, shape, and texture. Mrs. Lord questioned if Mr.
Biszantz has inquired about other forms of insulation. Mr. Biszantz replied that he has not.
Mr. Barker commented that he has left a message with the sales representative and told him
to get in touch with the Clerk of Commissions so this job can move along for Sears and Mr.
Biszantz. Mr. Biszantz explained that he had nine new Anderson windows put in and they
put insulation around the window fiames, but that is the only insulation he knows about in
the house. Mr. Lang commented that each time a modern application is applied to the
surface of that home it detracts away from the historic aspect of it. He then indicated that he
thinks they would reserve a judgement on this proposal until the board can contact the
representative frorri Sears.
P. Barker motioned that the request for the certificate of appropriateness for Fred Biszantz of
26561 Butternut Ridge Rd. be postponed until all answers are supplied in regards to the type
of siding to be installed on the upper part of the house. The board would like to accomplish
this at their next meeting and also to have the Sears representative, Mr. Biszantz, and his son
all present at that meeting. A. Smeraldi seconded the motion and was unanimously
approved.
VII. ADJOURNMENT:
B. Lord moved to adjourn the meeting. The motion was seconded by L. VanAuken and
unanimously approved. Meeting adjourned at 7:55 P.M.
JotSh Lang, Chairman C/ Asst. Clerk of Commissions, Shaun Solomon
