.. ? .. r
Mr. Lang motioned to issue a certificate of appropriateness to demolish existing storage
building and replace with pole barn to the Webb's at 27010 Butternut Ridge Rd. Mr. Corell
moved the motion and Mr. Smeraldi seconded. All were in favor.
Charles Heaton: 26405 Butternut Ridge Rd.
Mr. Heaton commented loolcing into purchasing the home at 26405 Butternut Ridge and the
lot next to it. Mr. Heaton then remarked that they will probably be doing some interior
renovations, painting,-and maybe some siding repair. Mr. Lang commented that after the
meeting he would give Mr. Heaton a copy of the pertinent paragraphs from the ordinance.
The general b ideline description would be compatible and consistent with the architecture
of the building, the age of the buildin?, but also including adjacent properties so that no one
particular building stands out froin all the rest in terms of remodeling and color. Ms. Lord
questioned if the empty lot was facing Butternut or Kennedy. Mr. Lang answered that it
faces Kennedy Ridge. Mr. Heaton commented that they like the trees in that lot and
questioned how it would be handled if some needed to be replaced. Mr. Barker replied that
Mr. Heaton would need a permit froin the city forester, who is the person that makes the
decision to whether there needs to be replacements. Mr. Heaton thanked the board for their
time.
IlI. COMMUNICATIONS:
Mr. Lano, commented that there is a mass amount of mail that the board members could look
at after the ineeting. Mr. Kraley has purchased the old stone house on Porter Rd. Mr. Lang
invited hiin to the meeting tonight to discuss to the board his plans for that house. He is not
going to take anything down, but what he wants to do is re-roof the home. He can do what
ever he pleases with that house because it is not plaqued. It is historic so for imput from he
and the board in terms of what kind of a roof would be appropriate for that building. He did
not indicate that it would be shake, which Mr. Lang does not believe would be appropriate.
He also wanted to talk about trim colors for the windows and doors. The house is from 1860
so the board needs to come up with colors for Mr. Kraley to use on the trim. They could
choose one or two colors probably white, off-white or creme.
IV. CONNFiiTTEE REPORTS:
Mr. Lang commented that the board inembers need to discuss postino, signs that were
submitted. They are brightly colored. The clerk of commissions wants to know if this
format is appropriate for your understanding of the requirement as stated in chapter 165
which says that a notice will be posted in the window of a property that is requesting a
certificate of appropriateness which will be visible from the street. The building department
permits are not readable from the street, as this public notice is not readable from the street.
Is this satisfactory to the board in terms of color and size to call attention to anybody going
by the building that there is a public notice and then if anybody is interested they can call
City Hall with the address and request information on what is the notice for. Mr. Barker
commented that the notice is orange and black which are the North Olmsted Eagles colors.
Mr. Corell added that he does not believe changing the font to a larger size will help. Mr.
Lang replied that he would talk to the clerk to see what they can work out. Mr. Barker
coinmented that he would not want it black and white because it may become confused with
building permits.
