10 <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />"TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!" <br />LANDMARKS COMIVIISSION <br />MINUTES - JANUARY 10, 2000 <br />7:35 P.M. IN OLD TOWN HALL <br />1. ROLL CALL: Chairman Lang called the meeting to order at 7:35 P.M. <br />PRESENT: Chairman J. Lang, Board Members M. Gareau, B. Lord, C. Miller, K. O'Rourke, A. <br />Smeraldi, and L. VanAuken. <br />ALSO PRESENT: P. Barker <br />II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF NIlNUTES: The minutes of December 13, 1999 Landmarks <br />Commission meeting have been submitted for approval. <br />B. Lord motioned to approve the minutes of the December 13, 1999 meeting. The motion was <br />seconded by C. Miller and unanimously approved. III. COMMUIVICATIONS: <br /> <br />IV. CONIlVIITTEE REPORTS: <br />V. OLD BUSINESS: <br />Mr. Barker has created a budget for the Landmarks Commission. W. Barker commented that <br />he had just inflated the budget that he had been shown from 1991. He found the following <br />expenses: date strips for home plaques $535 a piece; general office supplies at $300; stationary <br />business cards for $200; duplicating processes at $100; memberships for Professional Society at <br />$125; research and archival expenses at $300; miscellaneous expense of $500; computer, <br />printer, and scanner at $2,500; software at $2,000; digital cameras and disks at $600; and <br />secretary services at $600. The total Landmarks Commission budget ended up being $7,400. <br />Chairman Lang explained that he could call Arrow Aluminum Castings to get a more recent <br />quote on the date strips as well as plaques, if needed. Mr. Lang remarked that office supplies <br />would be kept to a bare minimum. The Chairman then indicated that duplication would not need <br />to be included in the budget, talked of a printing cost of no more than $100. Mr. Lang then <br />agreed with Mr. Barker's cost of $125 for all the memberships. Chairman Lang reviewed that <br />$50 would be Landmarks category for the National Alliance for Preservation Commissions out <br />of Athens, Georgia. Mr. Gareau indicated that travel costs for seminars would be around $1,000 <br />for one person to attend. Chairman Lang agreed that out of state would be out of budget. He <br />indicated that the National Alliance didn't have any local meetings in the state of Ohio. The <br />Preservation Resource Center of Ohio has monthly meetings and the Ohio Historical Society <br />also has many workshops locally. Mrs. O'Rourke questioned if the Chairman had any price <br />information on the National Trust. W. Lang explained that" most of these organizations are in <br />the $25-$50 per person range. He did not believe the commission would need to incorporate the
