4-
. ?
today. Mr. Engolia questioned if she thought he was qualified to do what this engineer is
asking. Ms. Boger indicated that they are not willing to take down anything that is good,
but they will clear out anything that is acceptable. She indicated that Sam Riolo has looked
at the site and he has been in this area for 10 years. He is the best mason; she can get
recommendations from her building department. He and she have worked there for 15
years both. Someone has to tell her that something is no good for them to take it down.
Her insurance is not covering this and there is not a lot of money to be recovered from this.
She is going to have to find the money to clear up the site and repair everything wrong, but
if there is a wall that is perfectly good and there is no reason for it to come down, and she
would hope the board would back her up on that. Mr. Engolia indicated that they wouldn't
like to take down any wa11s that are good. The board is not here to persecute anybody; all
they want to do is see these residents get a house that will last 100 years. They don't want
to give Ms. Boger a bad time and he never met these residents, but this board has to
function with what they have. Mr. Puzzitiello questioned if the downspouts were in
because he didn't see any. Mr. Cifranic indicated that they were put in after the back fill.
They are in the front rear and they stoned all the way up to the downspouts. They didn't
run the storm sewers yet. They were going to run the downspouts around the house and
then dig the sewers in later. 1VIr. Althen questioned if they were even going to dig the
water tap in later. Mr. Cifranic replied yes. The sanita.ry sewer and the storm sewers aren't
deep enough to make the basement anyway. Mr. Engolia suggested that he was at a loss as
to what the proper thing to do is. He questioned if Mr. Rymarczyk thought that the
engineer's report was acceptable to the City. Mr. Rymarczyk indicated that it was a
structural engineer. Mr. Puzzitiello indicated that the engineer's report would work to fix
the problems, but it is really going to be a pain to do it. Mr. Klesta indicated that it would
be easier to take it all out and start over. Except cost wise, he wasn't sure which direction
was wiser to go. Mr. Puzzitiello indicated that he would have to know who contractor that
would do the mason work would be. Ms. Boger replied that she would like to see Sam
Riolo do it, rather thari taking all the materials back. Mr. Puzzitiello questioned what she
was talking about. 1VIs. Boger indicated that if she is not doing the job then she needs to
take back the materials. Mr. Klesta indicated that she is still going to be doing the job, it
will just be a different contractor will be doing the labor part of it. He questioned what the
homeoumers would like to see because this is going to he the house they will have to live in
for the next hopefully 100 years. Mrs. Busony replied that she would rather see it start
over, only because when the bobcat fell there was so much impact that it could have made
the walls or foundation unstable. 1Vfi-. Engolia indicated that there should be a new footer
for the west wall where that bobcat fell. This is not going to be an easy job to fix, if you
want to leave the wall and block up that is not damaged, you have to make sure that the
footer is right and that it is going to go up. So the boaxd wants to know that the man who
is going to do the job knows what he is doing. We don't want the same thing happening
here. Mr. Klesta indicated that the whole foundation could be structurally unsound as far
as the walls do need to be shored up and back filled to lft. 6 inches above to the top. None
of that was done because the walls caved in. They're shored up now, but it is a little late.
W. Engolia indicated that Ms. Boger is agreeing that she needs to take care of that back
footer. She doesn't want to touch the front (east) wa11. He just wants to see the job done
right and he wasn't sure how to go about getting this done. Mr. Klesta questioned why it
?
