Mr. DiSilvestro showed a sample of the siding and colors that would be included. The <br />siding is four inches. Mrs. VanAuken questioned if this was going on over wood. Mr. Caster <br />replied correct. Mrs. VanAuken questioned if the wood was in good enough shape that when <br />covered with siding, it wouldn't rot out underneath. Mr. DiSilvestro repiied that it would be fine. <br />Mrs. VanAuken questioned if they did find that there is a place in the wood, would they replace <br />it. Mr. DiSilvestro replied that if neeci be, they would replace it. Mr. Barker commented that he <br />has a house that is probably 35 years old and they sided it about 15 years ago with half inch. <br />Then they started an addition and took the siding off the one side of the house. They noticed <br />that there was no damage to the original wood cedar siding. Mr. DiSilvestro indicated that there <br />would be no guarantee because a number of thinas could happen. Termite infestation would be <br />the main cause of deterioration. As lona as there is no moisture gettina into the wood <br />somewhere, there is not going to be a problem. That is what deteriorates wood. If it is sealed <br />water tight, there will be no deterioration. This is what he deals with everyday. Mrs. Davis <br />commented that there was a roof striped in Garfield Hts. that ended up being cedar. Mrs. Lord <br />called for a motion. <br />K. O'Rourke motioned to grant a certificate of appropriateness to Henry Caster of 25701 <br />Butternut Ridge Rd. to apply vinyl siding over a wood lapped house. The siding is atcoa mastic <br />brentwood and it is colored gray with white trim. Condition: The contractor will repair or <br />replace damaged wood before proceeding with the sidinD. The motion was seconded by M. <br />Davis and unanimously approved. Certificate Granted 9/10/01. <br />Mrs. Lord indicated that Mrs. Frank would like to apply for a plaque for her historical home. <br />There is also talk about Mr. Lang applying to plague his home. His barn is already plaqued. <br />K. O'Rourke motioned to have Mrs. Frank to re-subinit her application for a plaque once she has <br />the tax records. The motion was seconded by M. Davis and unanimously approved. <br />IV. COMCMUNICATIONS: <br />Chairman Lord indicated that there were a number of correspondences. The board members <br />have all been invited to a spaghetti dinner at the Senior Center. There is a letter from Heritage <br />Oluo asking the board to become members. In addition, the board received notice of the annual <br />ineeting of the Ohio Association. She questioned if any of the board members would like to go <br />to this. The board also received the L,ocal Historian and the Alliance Review. Don Copeland <br />gave a copy of the report of the fiscal year 2002 competitive grant program to the board for <br />review. Mrs. Lord indicated that if anyone would like to read it, they may borrow it, read it, and <br />bring it back to the next meeting. <br />V.
