type dormer on the backside of the house. There will be virtually no changes made to the front
of the house. He passed out photographs of the existing house. They are planning to use
windows that are consistent with the existing character of the home that have the vertical mutton
bars. There is a barn in the rear of the property, which will be the view out the back end of the
studio. As a part of this program they are replacing the stairs to go back in their original
location. They were originally from the living room up to the second floor and somewhere along
the Iine they took them out of that area and put them up from the kitchen from the back of the
house, which really destroys all the space that you can get in the middle of the second floor. So,
they are returning the stairs to their original ]ocation and the windows will be adjusted there to
work with the stairway. The windows at the gabled end are pretty much the way they are now.
On the east side of the house the windows will not change, on the west side there were two
windows, but now they show three to accommodate the patrician that goes between the two
upstairs rooms. Mrs. Lord questioned if they were turning the upstairs into a more livable space.
Mr. Was replied correct, with a bathroom, bedroom, studio, and study. The garage is attached
and it has always been that way. They plan to use siding and windows that will match the
existing materials. Ivlr-s. VanAuken questioned if there was any brick shown on the plan. Mr.
Was replied no, it is all cedar shake siding. Mrs. Lord questioned if they plan to keep the porch
as it is. Mr. Heaton, replied that it would stay as is for now. Mrs. O'Rourke questioned if there
were a lot of electrical and plumbing repairs that needed to be done. Mr. Heaton indicated no,
but they are taking the tiine to update some of those things. Mrs. Lord, questioned if when they
are talking about exterior changes, they are talking about adding the dortner to the back and
changing the window configurations on the west and east. Mrs. O'Rourke commented that those
are lovely windows on the house. Mrs. Lord inquired if the Heaton's or Mr. Was had any
questions for the board. Mr. Barker complimented them for coming in early and being so
cooperative. It makes the board members job easier and this is a nice proposal. Mrs. Lord
explained the process that they would have to go through to get their permit and thanked them
for their time.
Mr. Barker explained that a few of the board members met at Springvale with Marty Young, the
facility manager. He sat down with them and showed them renderings of what the new
clubhouse would look like. He indicated that they have no plans to do anything to the ballroom.
They are going to try to keep that as it is, because he thinks that's a very important part of selling
to wedding parties and whatnot. He is going to try to get historical information on the ballroom
itself. They had a little tour and saw the new restrooms and how the ballroom looked and
everyone was impressed with it. Marty feels that the integrity of the original ballroom is very
important and he was very glad to hear that. It was a short meeting, but he feels they all learned
a lot. Mrs. Lord commented that it would be nice to chronicle the history of the ballroom.
The board started discussing the Eldred house on Kennedy Ridge Rd., but the recording device
cut out before the meeting was adjourned.
VII. ADJOURNMENT:
Chajrman Lord adjourned the meeting.
B. Lord, Chairman Asst. Clerk of Commissions, Shaun Solomon
?

4
