with the wood. Mrs. Lord commented that they have heard some pretty gruesome stories about <br />covering over wood siding that is in deteriorating shape, because it is like putting a blanket on it <br />and it just gets worse and worse. Mr. Caster recommended that the board postpone any decision <br />until they can talk to the contractor. The board agreed. Mrs. O'Rourke questioned if this <br />contractor was the one who did his roof. Mr. Caster replied correct, he did the roof and all of <br />the restoration of the trim around the roof. Mrs. O'Rourke questioned if he had gotten more <br />quotes from other contractors. Mr. Caster replied no. Mr. Barker questioned what Mr. Corell <br />meant by restoring the wood that is deteriorating. Mr. Corell indicated that if the wood is <br />damaged beyond restoration, then they should replace it, if on the other hand it is restorable then <br />they should scrape it, take it down, protect it, preserve it and cover it. Mrs. Lord reconunended <br />that Mr. Caster talk to Mr. Webb on Butternut Ridge because he did a nice job protecting the <br />archiTct rl characteristics of his home. <br />? <br />??.??d motioned to postpone this proposal until the September 10, 2001 Landmarks meeting. <br />' The motion was seconded by G. Corell and unanimously approved. Tabled 8/13/01. <br />IV. COMNIUNICATIONS: <br />Chairman Lord indicated that the Commissions Office is making copies for all of the board <br />members of the correspondences such as "Perspectives". There is an invitation to a spaghetti <br />dinner. It is a silent auction/dinner to benefit the senior center's programs. They talked about the <br />Historic Bridges Conference at the last meeting and if anyone would like to go, it will take place <br />September 19, 2001 at the Sheraton. The National Trust Conference is October 16, 2001. <br />Chairman Lord indicated that Mr. Smeraldi contacted her and was going to resign his position on <br />the board. He indicated that if the board ever needs any graphic artwork done, that there are just <br />to call him and he is willing to help. He has not put it in writing, but he knows he has to do that. <br />V. COMNBTTEE REPORTS: <br />Chairman Lord indicated that they have really put a dent in the work that needs to be done <br />around Old Town Hall. She was here on Saturday and would Iike to show the board members, <br />after the meeting, where they stand on things being done. She put a call in to the Commissions <br />Office and they got office supplies for the board. <br />VI. OLD BUSINESS: <br />Chairman Lord indicated that the Heaton's and their architect, Mike Was, were present to review <br />some possible changes they wish to make to their home on Butternut. The Heatons came before <br />this board about a year ago and were thinking about purchasing this house. Now they have <br />purchased it and they have submitted plans, but the board is just getting them tonight. She <br />questioned if, as of yet, they've pulled a building permit. Mr. Heaton replied no. Mrs. Lord <br />explained that they would be sent to this board again when they do go to pull the permit. N1r. <br />Heaton indicated that they are here to get some direction as to where to go with this. Mr. Was <br />indicated that there are two sets of drawings to be passed around. The location of the house is at <br />the south side of Butternut Ridge Rd. at the end of Kennedy Ridge. The plans are to renovate <br />the second floor and in order to add a new master bedroom area; they plan to put a shed roof <br />3
