Mrs. 0'Rourke
questioned if the owners of these properties would be paid. Mr. Dubelko indicated that there are
nine properties affected and the City is under contract with a couple of them already. They have
negotiations going with all of them. He knows the Engineering Department wants to move this
project alonD because they have some grant money to protect. It helps doing this and hopefully
they will get enough done this year, that they will be able to preserve this grant money.
R. Tallon motioned to accept the dedication plat for the nine properties listed below:
PP No. 231 -12-012 3639 Clague Road Douglas & Suzanna Oleksy
PP No. 231 -12-014 3675 Clague Road Clague Towers Condo's
PP No. 231 -12-017 3683 Clague Road Joan Mongello
PP No. 231-12-03 5
PP No. 237-09-004
PP No. 237-08-001
PP No. 237-09-001
PP No. 237-09-005
PP No. 237-11-025
23370 Lorain Road Sunoco Inc.
23385 Lorain Road DinFam Ltd.
23425 Lorain Road BP Exploration & Oil Inc.
23351 Lorain Road North Olmsted Gettysburg Ltd.
Vacant Land Retail Today Ltd.
3839 Clague Road Phyllis Sturgeon
The motion was seconded by K. O'Rourke and was unanimously approved. Approved 11/13/01.
A man from the audience stood up and indicated that he was the owner of the Sunoco and he had
a question. He questioned why there were two other parcels across the street from his station
that were not being affected by this. Mr. Griffith indicated that they tried to take from both
sides, but the reason why they pulled back from the west side is because it would cost over a
million dollars to relocate the C.E.I. lines that are on that side of the street. They received a
grant for a million, so they would have just been able to relocate the C.E.I. and then never get the
project done. So they moved it to that side of the street to avoid that problem. The Sunoco
owner commented that he was probably going to lose about 10 parking spaces. Mr. Crriffith
indicated that the only thing he could really say for him was that with the widened pavement and
the additional lanes, it will be much easier to access that it is now. There is no question that he is
going to lose property, but at the same time access to the property will improve. Mr. Dubelko
indicated that the City's obligation is to provide just compensation. Your job is, if you're not
happy with the appraisal, to get an appraiser of your own and have it looked at to make sure that
you're being fairly compensated.
COMMUNICATIONS:
VI.
