ROLL CALL: <br />Chairman Raig called the meeting to order at 7:40pm. <br />PRESENT: Chairman; M. Raig, Board members; B. App; R. Garland and G. Thompson. <br />ABSENT: Board members; C. Kilbane, B. Martindale and L. Beach. <br />ALSO 1'RESENT: Asst. Clerk of Commissions; S. Solomon. <br />u. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF NIlNUTES: <br />The Cultural Arts Commission minutes dated October 10, 2001 have been submitted for <br />approval. <br />G. Thoinpson inotioned to approve the Cultural Arts Commission minutes dated October 10, <br />2001 as written. The motion was seconded by R. Garland and was unanimously approved. <br />III. NEW BUSINESS: <br />Goals and Obj ectives for the board. <br />1VIr. Thompson indicated that he had heard second hand that the City was moving toward <br />having the Senior Center at the old Library site. It is supposedly a dead issue. The seniors <br />don't want to move, period. He had some friends over there when they took a vote and the <br />idea of inoving to the old Library was shot down, Mr. Garland coirunented that he hadn't <br />heard that they had taken a vote, but parking becomes a serious problem over there during <br />the day. There was one Councilperson who that was her goal and since then she did not <br />become Mayor, so he thinks that is a moved point. Mr. Thoinpson suggested that from what <br />he understands the seniors definitely want to stay at their current location. Mr. Garland <br />indicated that there has been a new committee formed to look at a new Senior Center. Mr. <br />Thompson questioned if they weren't Iooking at the Library. Mr. Garland replied no, parking <br />is the drawback there for that. If you go to the Senior Center during any given day, <br />particularly on Thursdays when the Luncheon takes place and that parking Iot is jammed. <br />There is no room for parking at the old Library. Mr. Thompson recommended that the board <br />get together and take a walk through the old Library. Mr. Garland replied that he didn't even <br />know there was a basement in there until Mrs. Martindale brought it up. He thought that _ <br />Donna Meyers, the head librarian, would be willing to give a little tour if you asked. Mr. <br />Thompson thought the board should go as a group. W. Garland wanted to note that nexrt <br />Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001 at 10'00am, he would be going to Berea to meet with the Berea <br />Chamber. They have been approved for the Chittaqwaa program in June of this year. He <br />stuck his neck out a couple months ago and told them we would like one time over here and <br />we will probably get that one time over here. He really doesn't know details like specific <br />dates, but it would be sometime in June. He is on the mailing list for the Ohio Arts Council, <br />he doesn't know how he got on there, but he is.
