2. ** An 88.2 square foot variance for total signs on a lot (code permits 586 sq. ft applicant shows
674.2 sq. ft.), section (1163.24 A).
3. A 1.2 square foot variance for a wall sign on a unit larger than permitted by code (code permits
38.5 sq. ft applicant shows 39.7 sq. ft.), section (1163.24 B):
Note: * This variance includes existing signage on building. ** This includes proposed ground sign
approved by Board of Zoning Appeals, 8/1/02, which is not yet installed.
Which is in violation of Ord. 90-125 sections (1163.24 (B) &(A)). W. Kremzar seconded the
motion that was unanimously approved. Variances Granted.
13). Gift Garden25151 Lorain Road: WRD -4
Request for variance (1123.12). The proposal consists of new signage.
The following variance is requested:
1. A variance for a second wall sign (code permits 1, applicant shows 2).
Which is in violation of Ord. 90-125 section (1163.27 (a)).
Chairman Maloney called all interested parties forward to review their request. Mr. Gupta, the
Owner of Gift Garden and Mr. Kalina with Adams Signs came forward to be sworn in and address
the request. Mr..Kalina passed out pictures of the site and indicated that the owner would like to have
an additional sign explaining what the Gift Garden provides. The second sign is needed to inform
passerby's/patrons what type of items are sold within the store. The sign is below what is allowed
square footage wise by code. Mr. Kremzar questioned why the wording is needed when it is on the
pylon sign and door now. Mr. Kalina suggested the sign on the pylon sign would be removed if the
requested sign were allowed. The letters for the proposed sign are only 12 inches high. Mr.
Rymarczyk questioned if the wording Since 1970 was needed to explain what is offered. In addition,
this second sign could be placing the plaza in the same condition as Babies R Us themselves are in
now, too much signage for a.plaza. Mr. Kalina felt that their additional sign would not affect future
tenants. Mrs. Sergi questioned if all the spaces were filled or were there vacant spaces still needing to
be filled. Mr. Rymarczyk reviewed that there are a couple of spaces still open and will require signs
when filled. Mr. Kalina felt that the only way there would be problems in the future is if one of the
other spaces wanted more square footage then what they are allowed. No further comments were
made.
W. Kremzar motioned to grant Gift Garden; 25151 Lorain Road their request for variance (1123.12).
Which consists of new signage and that the following variance is granted:
1. A variance for a second wall sign (code permits 1, applicant shows 2).
Which is in violation of Ord. 90-125 section (1163.27 (a)). J. Koriold seconded the motion, roll call
on the motion; J. Maloney, W. Kremzar, T. Kelly and J. Konold "Yes" and N. Sergi "No". Variance
Granted. _
IV. NEW BUSINESS:
V. ADJOURNMENT:
Chairman Maloney adjourned the meeting at 9:10 p.m.

John Malon Date: /Clerk of Commissions, Dorna Rote
9 •
