Mr. Was, from Second National Bank and Mr.
Gnat, with Mahoning Lighting & Maintenance each came forward to be sworn in and address the
request. Mr. Gnat suggested that the sign that is permitted by code is too small to see. He submitted a
comparison sheet showing what is allowed by code and what they are requesting. Mr. Conway
commented that he had no objections to the request as the request is due to the way the sign is laid out,
there is a lot of open space within the box.
J. Mr. Kelleher, with
Century Signs and Mr. Persinger, the owner each came forward to be sworn in and address the request.
Mr. Conway and Mr. Kremzar indicated that.they would need to abstain, as they know the owner. Mr.
Kelleher reviewed that there is currently three canopy signs on the site now and the owner would like to
update the signs. They will remove three existing Sunoco signs totaling 45 square feet and install two
new Sunoco signs, which total 39 square feet. The existing lights that are in the canopies would
illuminate the signs. They will round off the corners of the existing canopies as well. Mr. Persinger is
one of the few Sunoco owners in the area who has a conforming freestanding sign. Mr. Conway
suggested that the new canopy could change the request. Mr. Kelleher reviewed that they cut the corner
so the distance is less than what was first indicated.
N.
