They have had city commissioners going in and out to determine what would need to be done to bring
it up to code. When Mrs. Lord talked to her, the price was still $990,000. Mrs. O'Rourke confirmed
that figure as she had spoken to the realty company that day. Mrs. VanAuken asked if it is a church
that is interested in buying the land. Mrs. Lord confirmed that is the best information they have at this
time. Mrs. Lord added they want the property but they do not think they can afford to bring the old
church back to code. Mrs. Lord said even if they never find the missing deed before it changes hands
they have to go through a title search. Mr. Barker asked how far back they would go with a title
search. Mrs. Davis indicated she is unsure how far they legally have to go but if there is reason for
going back they may do it. Mr. Barker said maybe that could be brought up because this is coming up
for demolition. Mrs. Davis said she is not familiar with the ordinance for demolition and Mrs. Lord
pointed out it is in the Landmarks ordinance. At that time, Mr. Lind requested a copy of it. A copy of
the ordinance is to be sent to Mr. Lind and Mrs. Davis per Chairman Lord. Mrs. O'Rourke said before
a third party buys the property, they will want to know if they can demolish the building, and she
asked if the board's decision will make the difference on whether they can demolish it or not. Mrs.
Lord replied yes, within the time frame, the time frames that they've dealt with before. Mrs. Lord
indicated a decision needs to be made for a date to visit the church. There was discussion on a couple
of dates and it was determined they will look into the dates of February Znd, 9th, and 16th. It was
suggested they try to go before the next meeting on Feb. l lth. Mrs. Lord indicated it would be good
to bring flashlights and to take a camera. Mrs. O'Rourke asked about access to a digital camera. Mrs.
Lord said she can bring one and mentioned that Landmark's 35mm camera does not have a flash. Mr.
Lind has two cameras available. Mrs. VanAuken said she thought Landmarks had a digital camera.
• Mary Gotlibowski of 2887 Clague Rd. called the Office of Commissions inquiring if she could
get her house plaqued. Please inake determination.
Mrs. Lord brought up the plaque request for the house on Clague Road. Mr. Barker said he received
the phone call on that and told Shaun Solomon to call Mrs. Lord or have the resident show up because
he did not know the proper criteria to give her. NIr. Barker suggested calling her, and then sending her
the forms so she can come up if she has questions. The house is on the corner of Stoneybrook and
Clague. There was discussion about other houses in that area. Mrs. Lord said she believes only one
house on Clague has been plaqued and it is up closer to Lorain. Nlrs. Lord will call Mary
Gotlibowski. The spelling of her name needs to be verified with the files. Mrs. Lord believes it is an
1892 house that has been much upgraded but it has an original cabin heart to it. Mrs. Lord indicated
she will talk with the resident requesting a plaque. Mr. Barker asked to add something to New
Business. In his meeting with the Mayor, the Mayor indicated he would try to arrange a ineeting
between Landmarks, the architect, and possibly someone from Planning Commission. Mrs. Lord
indicated that she had already talked with the Mayor about it before Christmas. Mr. Barker made the
suggestion to the Mayor that the meeting include Mrs. Lord and Mrs. VanAuken since they have
knowledge about the architecture from back then. Mrs. Lord reported on the rest of her conversation
with the Mayor. The Mayor said they did not have to meet until after the first of the year but he did
say there would be groundbreaking in the spring and that a11 the property has been acquired. Mrs.
Lord asked if Mrs. VanAuken would be willing to contribute to the conversation. Mrs. Lord indicated
her sense is that it won't be much different and the architect looked at the building and added some
things to the drawing that he feels ties this building to the proposed library. Mrs. O'Rourke asked
where the picture of the library is located. 1VIrs. Lord said that is a question to ask the Mayor. Mrs.
VanAuken said the Mayor has the pictures she took to him. She said he has a picture of a slide they
have of the front of the Martindale house. She had the slide made into a picture and took him other
photos and they discussed a building in Chagrin Falls that used to be a library. Mrs. Lord said they
should handle his request, which is, meet with the architect and the Mayor and have the Mayor bring
the packet with him. Mr. Barker suggested to Mrs. VanAuken that she get another packet together
just in case. IVIr-s. VanAuken said she did not keep copies so Mrs. Lord will inform the Mayor he has
3
